There’s nothing quite like fall colors against snowy mountains!
We did our annual fall colors drive last weekend. This is a view from the gondola in Telluride.
Do you do a fall colors drive?

A wonderful animal sighting just north of Coal Bank Pass! How I spotted this guy I don’t know.
You bet we found a safe place to pull off and ran back for a photo. Don’t worry there’s plenty of distance between him and us. Zoom in on the clearing in the first photo for a better look!

Just making themselves at home.

Today I was working on our garden (we got a spot at the local community garden here in Durango) and I found this fat little guy! I put him somewhere safe while I was shoveling and then let him go when I was done. I sure hope he stays!
The second photo is the progress so far. The plot came with a couple of chive plants and some cilantro that were keeping. Some seeds have been planted but it’s still too cold at night to put some of them in.
Do you have a garden? What’re you growing this season?
Happy Birthday, Kevin! Best partner ever!
Proving once again that you might have to get older but that doesn’t mean you have to stop having fun!

Did you know that deer squat to p*e?
We didn’t know until we caught this one in the act in our yard.
Oh, and we’re back in Durango.

Proof that there is a beach in Playa del Carmen. We just didn’t spend much time there.

So many colors!
After Chichén Itzá and te cenote we stopped in the little town of Valladolid.
We only had about a half an hour here but still managed to find vegan gelato.

If you book a Chichén Itzá tour, make sure it includes a cenote visit afterwards!
Cenotes are big holes full of cool, fresh water. They are very deep! Even if you are a good swimmer life vests are required.
Our last cenote visit was more about crawling through the cave system. This was a different experience but just as enjoyable. This one had lots of small catfish!
Have you visited a cenote before? How was it?
Thanks to our friends Alex & Lina for the company & some of the photos!

Chichen Itza!
I was wondering why we’d never made the trip to visit this Mayan wonder. Well, from Playa del Carmen, plan on it being an all day affair. Our day was 12 hours long!
Oh, and plan for it being HOT. We were smart and booked a tour that started with Chichen Itza, then went to a refreshing cenote for a swim. This is the way. Our hotel had an umbrella in our room. If yours does, bring it! There is very little shade and it's wonderful for those times when you're standing and listening to your guide.
Have you visited Chichen Itza or any of the other ancient pyramids in Mexico? What did you think?

Last month we took a little road trip around Colorado. Oh yes, it was very much still winter, too!
You might have seen some of the pictures on here but if you were curious about the whole trip and what we got up to, check it out!

It’s colorful here in Playa del Carmen even on a cloudy day.
