A moment from the early days of Telluride Arborist.

Back in the early days, Telluride Arborist was just a small group of young college graduates trying to find their place in the world and carve out a life that felt meaningful and inspiring.

Rock climbers, bookworms, and ecologists. A crew brought together by a love of trees, the forest, and life in the mountains.

They recognized the need to care for the trees and forests that shape this community.

They were building their lives in the mountains, hoping to stay rooted in a place they loved. Climbing trees through the warmer months. Skiing, traveling, and exploring when winter arrived.

This photo was taken during a climb outside Ridgway. One of those clear Colorado days where you pause in the canopy, look out across the San Juans, and feel just how special it is to live and work in these mountains.

Somewhere along the way, this image became the inspiration for the Telluride Arborist logo that still represents our crew today.

Over the years, members of that original crew went on to start arborist companies of their own in other places, and they are all doing incredible work today. We are proud to have been part of that beginning.

While we were working on a tree removal, a few of our tools went missing from the roadside:
– a pull line/climbing rope
– a throw line
– two throw bags
– and a Notch Throwline Pop Box

If someone picked them up by accident or thought they were free to take—no worries at all. We’d just really appreciate getting them back.

Let’s talk about wildfire.🔥 We’ve been fortunate so far—our local wildfires have been small and quickly handled, thanks to fast-acting and incredible first responders.⭐️ But after the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Lahaina and Boulder, we all know the risk is real—and rising.📈 The good news? There’s a lot we can do.😁 Now is a great time to start preparing.🌲 These simple steps are part of home hardening and creating defensible space—ways to reduce your home’s vulnerability and help firefighters defend it if a fire comes close.🏠 ✅ Start here: •Trim grasses and weeds around your house •Prune dead branches and shrubs, especially near your roof, decks and eaves. •Move firewood and brush piles at least 30 feet from buildings •Clear leaves and needles from gutters and decks •Maintain a 5-foot non-combustible zone around your home •Use gravel or stone instead of mulch near your foundation •Cover vents with fine metal mesh to block embers We’re doing these things at our own home too. Small changes make a big difference.✔️ And here’s something important to be aware of: 🤔 Across Colorado, more homeowners are receiving underwriting condition letters or risk mitigation notices from insurance companies.✉️ These notices identify wildfire hazards and include required actions and deadlines. In some cases, not acting can mean non-renewal or even cancellation of your policy.‼️ Even if you haven’t received a notice, starting now—especially within the first 5 feet of your home—it can protect your property and support your future insurability. During college, Harrison joined Telluride Arborist as a seasonal crew member, working with us every summer while pursuing his degree. Now, with some full-time seasons under his belt, Harrison has become an essential part of our team, demonstrating unwavering dedication, leadership, and a sharp eye for detail. He’s incredibly reliable and always tackles the tough jobs with a smile. An all-around awesome human, he’s an invaluable part of our crew, and we love having him on the team.

The ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) certification is the industry’s gold standard, requiring a combination of education, hands-on experience, and a rigorous exam. Earning this certification reflects Harrison’s hard work, expertise, and passion for tree care.
