I read the reviews of Alta Lakes Road, and decided to try it. It started with a terrifying section that was barely wider than my van, with a drop off on my right. After getting though it with my hands gripping the steering wheel and my jaw clenched, I was afraid that the rest of the 4 miles would be more of this - and I didn’t know if I could handle that.
Luckily, the road got wider and less scary - just more bumpy, but the van made it up with no problem. And boy, was it worth it. Three lakes, a ghost town, and a campsite by the water.
My favorite part was the waterlogged phone booth that was next to one of the lakes (for some reason) - not what I expected to see, but a fun surprise!

AD · As much as I wish I could be a real nature guy and live in harmony with all creatures, unfortunately that will never be me, and the bugs and I will never get along.
After 5 years on the road, I finally have a bug net from .co , which means I can have my door open for views like these, while keeping bugs out! 🦟

The best thing about van life is going where the sun is, so my winters are usually spent in the desert. But I always start to miss seeing green everywhere, so here are a few photos from the forest 🌿
