This piece tells a story about a couple who married back in the fall at a church in a small town in NC. It's filled with details about the souls, symbols and cultures that influenced this event and the piece of art, a gift from parents.
The church is awash with flowers, deep purple calla lilies, red anthuriums, white hydrangeas....Southern roots and Filipino traditions set the atmosphere. The ceremony begins.
A part of Filipino tradition. During the ceremony the bride's Unity veil, made by the her grandmother, was lifted at the edge and brought across the groom's shoulder as they stood at the alter. That signified the unifying of the couple. A silken cord, the Yugal, made by her mother, was then wrapped around their shoulders in a figure eight pattern (infinity) symbolizing the binding of two lives in infinite love and fidelity. Later, the groom gifts thirteen coins to his bride, as he vows to provide and share everything. Post ceremony and under a beautiful sunset sky, they all celebrated at a grand historic Southern home.

She's 21 yrs old...where did time go. She's really smart, has studied here and abroad, is very well traveled and loves helping others... I made this small travel journal for her birthday with just the occasional page of praise, encouragement and advice....even included a glue stick along with it.... happy trails😉
