Cold weather increases the risk of house fires, and many of them are PREVENTABLE.
firefighters are trained, equipped, and ready to respond in emergencies. We WILL come when you call.
But during severe winter weather, every response carries added risk. Icy roads, reduced visibility, and longer response times mean a preventable house fire puts your family, your neighbors, and your first responders in danger.
Space heaters, candles, and overloaded outlets cause many winter structure fires. Taking a few extra minutes to pay attention to heating equipment safety can help prevent a life-changing emergency.
Please help reduce the risk by following these safety tips:
🔥 Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn
🕯️ Never leave space heaters or candles unattended
🔌 Plug space heaters directly into the wall (no extension cords)
⚡ Avoid overloading outlets
🚨 Make sure smoke alarms are working on every level of your home
Do your part. Be a good neighbor. Make safe choices!
