🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICE 🚨
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Heritage Park will be hosting a historical military reenactment event from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day.
As part of the reenactment, participants will be firing blank ammunition and conducting simulated battle demonstrations throughout the event. The reenactors will also be camping overnight in the park during the weekend.
Residents and visitors in the area may hear frequent gunfire-like sounds during the event. Please be advised that these sounds are expected and are part of the scheduled reenactment activities.
We are sharing this information in advance because similar events in the past generated numerous calls for service regarding shots fired.
There is no public safety concern associated with the reenactment. If you hear what sounds like gunfire coming from the Heritage Park area during the scheduled event hours, it is likely related to the authorized reenactment activities.
Thank you for helping us spread the word and avoid unnecessary emergency calls.

This Memorial Day, the men and women of the Taylor Police Department pause to honor and remember the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who gave everything in service to our nation.

From all of us at the Taylor Police Department, thank you to our fallen heroes and to the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

We wish everyone a safe and peaceful Memorial Day.

FIRST OF TWO CITYWIDE GARAGE SALES: The City of Taylor will again offer two free Citywide Garage Sale periods in 2026, the first May 22-31 and the second August 14-23.

Each of these periods will enable participants to have two full weekends of garage sales, should weather be a problem during one of the weekends. No permit is required to hold your garage sale during these dates only.

Residents hosting sales should hold them in relatively open areas.

Residents hosting sales on their property should provide disposal containers, lined with plastic bags, that can be easily sealed and disposed of, during and after their events.

Keep any advertising signage for your sale out of public rights-of-way, or easements.

When any citywide rummage sale ends, unwanted items can be disposed of at the Taylor Hills Transfer Station and Compost Site at 16300 Racho Road Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Residents will be required to use any available free dump privileges or pay the cost to dispose of any unwanted items. No commercial dumping is permitted. No explosives, autos and auto parts, boats, concrete, hazardous waste, compost materials, tree branches, or tires will be accepted.
