🚒💪 This week, we're focusing on Functional Fitness for Life as part of Firefighter Stand Down 2026 💪🚒

A-Shift and Command staff finished the workout series strong, leading the crews in the burpee-pushup challenge!

Firefighting demands strength, endurance, mobility, balance, and resilience. Functional fitness prepares us for the real-world tasks we face every day—from advancing hose lines and climbing stairs to patient care and rescue operations.

Throughout the week, we're encouraging all members to:
🏋️ Prioritize physical fitness
🤸 Improve mobility and flexibility
💧 Stay hydrated and recover properly
🤝 Support and motivate one another
❤️ Invest in long-term health and wellness, sleep, and nutrition.

Being fit for duty helps protect not only ourselves, but also our crews and the communities we serve.

Together, let's build a culture of health, wellness, and readiness—on and off the job.

🚒💪 2026 Firefighter Stand Down: Functional Fitness for Life 💪🚒

Getting the work done! Many of our Command and Admin staff joined C-Shift to put in the work this morning!

This year's focus is on one of our most important tools on the fireground—our health and fitness.
Functional fitness goes beyond the gym. It's about building the strength, endurance, mobility, and resilience needed to perform the demanding tasks of the fire service safely and effectively. From carrying equipment and climbing stairs to making rescues and operating on emergency scenes, every movement matters.

During Stand Down, we're taking time to:
✅ Assess our fitness goals
✅ Prioritize mobility and injury prevention
✅ Stay hydrated and fuel our bodies properly
✅ Support our crews in building healthy habits
✅ Commit to long-term wellness on and off duty.

A stronger firefighter is a safer firefighter. We're use this Stand Down to invest in ourselves, our crews, and the communities we serve.
