We are so sad to learn of the passing of legendary artist Pat Steir. Graphicstudio was privileged to have published a collaboration between Steir and poet John Yau that was released in 2000. They worked together on a group of four lithographs that paired Steir's signature drip marks with Yau's poetry, which Yau typeset by hand using rubber stamps. One print uses a process developed by Graphicstudio called waxtype to print Steir's gesture in a ghostly, white-pigmented beeswax over a blue gradient resembling the sky. Others feature intense red, gold, black and cream colors.

This collaboration is just one example of the many facets and forms that Pat Steir's continually experimental artistic practice encompassed.
