This is not acceptable and it's why residents of New Tampa have to speak out with our combined voices. We contribute more in tax revenue then we receive back in city services. Thank you Tampa Firefighters Local 754 for pointing out what should be obvious to decision makers. It's not only call volume that should determine what assets go where. It should be how long it takes for firefighters to get to scene. New Tampa is a sprawling suburban community. I hope it doesn't take a tragedy for the city to get this.

New Tampa leaders, firefighters push back after ladder truck moved to Ybor area Fire Chief Barbara Tripp said growing development throughout downtown Tampa, Ybor and the GasWorx district is driving increased emergency calls in the urban core.

First, it was damaging hurricane flooding, and now drought. The good people of Forest Hills have been through a lot and turned out at the Forest Hill Neighborhood Association to hear about how the city and regional water authorities are trying to mitigate the impact. Glad I was there, along with Councilman Luis Viera and County Commission Candidate Aileen Rodriguez, to listen and learn.

Honored to be asked by the City of Tampa to attend a Saturday forum on city government leadership and the working relationship between the City Council and Mayor. You can't have better teachers than former Mayor and Governor Bob Martinez and former City Councilor and current County Commissioner Harry Cohen. Great information from Mayor Jane Castor's Chief of Staff, City Attorney, City Clerk, CFO, Fire, and Police!

Proud to appoint my friend and New Tampa resident Alan Cohn to the City of Tampa Charter Review Commission. This Commission comes together every seven years to look at potential changes to our City of Tampa Charter.

Alan (seen here with me and his wife Patty) is a good man and I know will do a great in this role.

The Commission is difficult and time consuming work and I thank Alan and all of the Council and Mayoral appointees who will dedicate a great deal of this time to this endeavor.
