To honor the ongoing pursuit of freedom and equality this Juneteenth, we're sharing this snapshot from Caylee’s recent trip to the bookstore at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.

We hope you'll continue to celebrate with us by exploring and uplifting African American authors whose voices continue to shape culture, challenge injustice, and inspire change.

There are a lot of things we love about our bookstore, but nothing tops seeing our community make this space their own. 💛

From board games and puzzle-solving sessions to the occasional knitting group gathered around a table, our bookstore is so much more than shelves of books. It's a place to connect, create, unwind, and spend time together.

Independent bookstores are places where people gather, discover, build community, and connect with each other.

This new Stanford Social Innovation Review essay puts words to something booksellers experience every day: running a bookstore is so much more than selling books. It’s hosting events, partnering with schools, expanding access to reading, and creating spaces where people can come together.

As an Emerson Collective bookstore partner, we're part of a growing network of bookstores exploring these ideas in communities across the country.

Sprinkles, stories, and a whole lot of smiles 🍩✨ Yesterday's Kidtown was extra sweet as we read Dozens of Doughnuts by Carrie Finison and decorated donut holes.

Between the frosting, sprinkles, and storytime fun, it was the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning!
