At the General Meeting we were able to honor long time and upstanding member Ken Severe with the first member challenge coin. Ken has been a member with IBEW Local 483 since 1988 and was a former Executive Board Member. He has a long list of Union dedication that we would like to honor, including the following:

• He is currently a Delegate for the Pierce County Central Labor Council.
• He has donated countless hours over the years contributing to the maintenance of the flower beds at the Union Hall.
• He has donated to the Peanut Butter Drive ever since its first year.
• He has consistently donated $1,000 or more to the Peanut Butter Drives.
• Shows up consistently to our General Membership Meetings and always gives a report on the floor for the Pierce County Central Labor Council.
• Constantly exudes unwavering dedication and service to IBEW Local 483, its members and the community we serve.

We are so grateful to have members like Ken, and he truly embodies what it means to be 483 strong!

The Faster Labor Contracts Act would establish a clear process and strict timeline for reaching a first collective bargaining agreement, helping workers secure the benefits they voted for and strengthening the freedom to organize.

For IBEW members, strong collective bargaining rights are essential to protecting good union jobs, raising wages, improving benefits, and ensuring workers have a meaningful voice in the workplace.

After 47 years in the IBEW, 27 years as a member of IBEW Local 483, 15 years as an Assistant Business Manager and this last 3 years as Business Manager we honor Brother Byron Allen’s dedication and commitment to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. We celebrated the retirement of Brother Byron at his retirement party on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Byron’s commitment to members and colleagues has been profound and although we will miss him, we are excited for him in this next chapter in his life that he so much deserves!
