Giving Tuesday: Help Us Empower Syracuse Teens with Essential Life Skills!

Friends, tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. We know everyone has many worthy options right now, but if you’re looking to support a true grassroots, community-led initiative that is making an immediate, tangible difference right here in Syracuse, we humbly ask you to consider partnering with the Kitchen Literacy Project (KLP).

Why KLP Matters Right Now: In today’s complex economy, the life skill of cooking is more crucial than ever for health, independence, and financial stability. Our unique 3x3 Program brings local chefs and cooks into the classroom to empower middle school students at the SCSD Hillside after-school program.

In every class, our students master core skills—knife safety, seasoning, and food safety—and then use them to prepare a full, nutritious meal. Best of all, they leave with the ingredients to prepare that same meal at home for a family of four, continuing the learning and engagement into the family space! This directly addresses food insecurity in our community while building student confidence. We truly can do a lot with a little, and we’re eager to continue working with these teens in the new year.

Here are 2 Crucial Ways You Can Help Us Meet Our Goal Tomorrow:

Make a Direct Donation: Your financial contribution (even just the cost of a cup of coffee!) helps us secure the ingredients, safe equipment, and educational materials needed for these life-changing classes.

Be an Advocate – Share Our Story: If you can’t donate right now, please share this post with your network. Spreading the word about our mission—Community Led, Future Fed—is one of the most powerful ways you can support our local students.

Thank you for being part of the KLP family and for considering us this Giving Tuesday!

FEBRUARY KID'S CAMP CLASSES ALERT!

We are so excited to launch our first series of kid's (7-12yrs old) programming for the February Break (2/17-2/21) at Salt City Market in the teaching kitchen!

We have 4 incredible offerings from our beloved community partners Exhale Cafe and Bake Shop, The Curd Nerd, Brujas Aguas Frescas , and Aficapure!

These classes are ticketed, but proceeds will be going to our 3x3 Fundraiser (https://chuffed.org/project/120145-the-3x3-program-three-core-cooking-life-skills-for-scsd-teens) to work with our youth partners at Hillside afterschool program.

We also have a solidarity pass option where you can pay for a local child to attend a February class, and then the proceeds roll into the fundraiser as well, so, a double win!
