A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is likely today. It'll be moving west to east through CNY after 2PM. Most likely scenario is we get damaging winds. But I also can't rule out an isolated tornado. It's one of those days you want to stay weather aware!

Finally warming up this week! Plenty of scattered showers out there to finish the week but you won't catch me complaining about it. Saturday will likely be the warmest day of the year so far in Syracuse.

If you're a weather nerd you're going to love today! Rain/Freezing Rain/Snow are all on the table. Minor temperature fluctuations will have a big impact on snowfall totals. CNY is trending slightly warmer so expect rain to be the more dominant precip type in Syracuse. The freezing line should spend most of the day north of the thruway. The snowfall forecast graphs are through tomorrow morning but most of the snow shuts off at midnight tonight.

Sweet view of all the chimneys going in Syracuse this morning! We got down to -9°. Temperatures are finally looking to break freezing on Tuesday!

Some of the coldest wind chills of the year are headed to CNY this weekend. Here's what 7am Saturday could feel like. Combined with a couple inches of fresh snow, it's going to be a good day to watch golf or the Olympics!

Happy Groundhog Day! As much as I love Phil, here are some actual temperature forecasts for the spring. On the left is the outlook for February showing moderate confidence of below average temperatures. On the right is a three month outlook for March/April/May which gives me at least a shred of hope.

It's the snowiest year through Jan. 26th since 2010-11 in Syracuse! Here's a check at the last few years. And there's more snow to come tonight!
