A couple of days ago, the folks at WIRED shared the story of the work that I am doing on developing apps for and helping immigrants know their rights. Thankful to Brendan Koerner from WIRED for doing the story. I'll also share a video of my thoughts after. Go take a look if you want a peek into the process. WIRED has a trial subscription- but they have been doing some great work in this space.

A message on how watching the work of shaped my hope to hold accountable at this moment in time. With everything ratcheting up in , and US wide - it’s important we push back. are doing what they can. We need to step up too.

With the DOJ pulling resource apps from the app stores and the administration on a full blitz in , I know it's important to see if we can have a whole of community approach to resist. To that - I made - a Chicago based version of the app. If you know an organization or government entity that would want it, I will turn it over for free. It's all built- background notifications set - and I can make videos and materials if needed. Free. Just contact me and I can transfer it to you.
The only thing I ask? Please make a plan to help. Own it so that there's trust - and that we can create a push back against whats happening. Kids being zip tied is not OK. Citizens being rounded up is not OK. Share it with any org you think could use it. If big institutions arent willing to help - it's up to us.
Yesterday DOJ reached out to Apple and took down DEICER as well as other ICE apps. While disheartened at Apples capitulation, I was prepared for this. Here's how you can install the app on your phone -without- the app store. It's up to us to protect our rights.
With out in and , wanted to get a way for folks to help inform communities of timely information to make their own decisions. Using
With the administration launching Operation Midway Blitz in with - wanted to share some updates on DEICER. Please share with everyone. We need to find a way to get a coordinated response here. Thx

I was out in North Hollywood on a job and noticed that I had just enough time to go to Long Beach for the national convention. I got a chance to attend a panel on Civic Engagement with
of , Virginia Kase Solomon of , Erica Bernal-Martinez of , Jonathan Diaz of And of
The panel offered some great insights on engagement and we got chance to ask questions. I got an opportunity to share my thoughts on a need to develop a national strategy to solve the immediate problems of our communities - the raids taking citizens and non citizens alike. I talked about my development of AI tools and the development of DEICER . To me , I wanted to share that running for office or going out to mobilize voting requires that we address two things : transactionality and trust.
If we can show that we can truly solve the immediate problems for our communities this would engender the trust we need to ask for the long haul movements. I talked about how a national support of initiatives like DEICER could try to help - but only if we can organize around a solitary commitment.
After the talk I had a bunch of conversations with local councils of LULAC which was very encouraging.
I just believe that we have the tools to be able to help. I want to believe that we can strive to have much less videos of peoples worst day broadcasted over social media.
We need to bring information to the communities that need it - and make a promise that we are here to help. I’m grateful to have had a chance to speak my thoughts.
