So long, Gladys, Gloria, Melody, Myrtle and Daphne! Our beloved goldfish, living in the Children's Library since May, have been adopted by one of our young patrons. Time to break down our "Under the Sea" display and get ready for a "Back to School" display!

What a blast we had yesterday evening! Thanks to Courtney & Carlos from Hampstead Stage Company for a magical & funny performance of Aladdin. We are loving the new amphitheater here at Swarthmore Public Library!

Aladdin comes to the Swarthmore Public Library this evening! We are excited to welcome the the Hampstead Stage Company traveling children’s theatre troupe back to our community! They will perform Aladdin from 6 – 7pm in the Central Park amphitheater in front of the library.
This play is for families with children ages 5 years and older. No registration required. Free and open to the community. We hope to see you there!
This classic tale is an exotic adventure based on The Tales of the Arabian Nights. Please note that this is the play, not the Disney musical.

Thank you to BAD Splash for the thrilling Speed Painting show and workshop yesterday! The kids loved seeing Hagrid & Professor Snape come to life, and did a fantastic job of working together to paint their own large portraits of Harry Potter and Dobby.
All of these paintings will be on display as we get closer to our 2nd annual Harry Potter Day, on Saturday, October 8th!

Calling all kids & families! Swarthmore Public Library will be hosting "The Head-to-Toe Movement Show" - a free concert by Turtle Dance Music, LLC - today from 3:00-4:00.
This movement-focused 60-minute performance is designed to engage children in physical activity using awesome music, original stories, incredible visuals, exciting games and interactive music technology to promote fitness, healthy eating, going to your library and celebrating music! The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children and fun for parents and caregivers and each song is accompanied by hands-on, visual and sensory-experiences. Kids will play instruments, try out interactive music technology and dance along throughout the whole show!
This concert will take place at the Swarthmore United Methodist Church. No registration required.

ALONE OR WITH A FRIEND, ACT OUT YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER OR SCENE FROM A BOOK.
Act out your character or scene for a librarian by 5pm on Saturday, July 2nd. Earn a raffle ticket and a chance to win prizes for each mission you complete this summer!

Calling all kids, ages 3 years and older! Join us this afternoon at 3:00 for our first "WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY" of the summer!
Professional Storyteller, Don Dougherty, of Classroom Adventure Stories will be performing his Roaring Adventure Story, "The Children of the Swarthmore Public Library Go Wild in the Jungle!". This story is highly interactive. Your children will run away from a stampede; swing from vine-to-vine with the monkeys, climb a tall rock cliff, and experience other jungle adventures!
Be sure to get there early, so that your child's name can be placed into the story. A Roaring Good Time will be had by all!
This performance will take place next door to the Library, at the Swarthmore United Methodist Church. No registration required.
