Update on Power Outages:

4 Million Customers Wait for Power Winds of up to 115 miles per hour whipped across the Eastern Seaboard, ripping power lines from poles and snapping trees in half. Hospitals, emergency call centers and other crucial facilities were holding up, but officials said it could get much worse as Irene churns north.

At 11:00 a.m. EDT, the center of Irene was located near latitude 49.5 north, longitude 66.2 west, or about 191 mils north-northeast of Frenchville, Maine. The remnants of Irene will continue to move northeast with no additional rainfall expected across the United States. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, with higher gusts.

Flood Warnings are in effect for parts of the northern Mid-Atlantic into New England and High Wind Warnings are in effect for Northern Maine.
