Christopher Davis, an Automotive Technology instructor and department chair at Augusta Technical College , was selected as the 2026 statewide winner of the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction. Now in its 35th year, the State Rick Perkins Award is important because it validates the excellence of technical education and demonstrates that careers in manufacturing and skilled trades are driven by innovation, expertise, and opportunity—not simply by tradition. Listen to what Davis has to say about technical college opportunities—many of which lead to fulfilling careers in manufacturing, skilled trades, engineering technology, automation, welding, machining, industrial maintenance, or other technical fields.

What are the hidden costs of “close enough” bend angles? Some of you engineers. operators, and small manufacturers who require accuracy and consistency in your tube fabrication need to know this answer...
If you do not verify angles early in the process, nonconformities typically surface downstream in production in these ways, creating hidden costs:
• Tube assemblies do not fit fixtures
• Welding and brazing stations experience delays
• Operators make repeated setup adjustments
• Material waste increases
• Delivery schedules slip
In high-mix, high-precision manufacturing, this can quickly become a major source of lost productivity.
Accurate bend angle measurement enables teams to identify deviations immediately, preventing scrap when processing large production batches.
Read our blog, "Why Tube Bend Angle Accuracy Matters More Than Ever," to learn more.

George visited a customer in Mississippi last week, where he installed a newly designed pneumatic clamp assembly, updated wiring, and software on some of their older CTL23PA high-speed cut-to-length machines. He updated the wiring to accommodate future software updates, improving the user experience and overall machine safety. This type of customer support reflects one of our Core Values, "Constantly Improve." We're committed to continually improving our internal and external processes and providing the best tools and training possible.

At Winton Machine, we believe investing in the next generation of engineers and innovators matters.
We recently wrapped up our Georgia Tech Capstone project, and we could not be more impressed with the students we had the opportunity to work alongside. Their creativity, professionalism, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities were exciting to see firsthand.
One of the highlights was attending the Georgia Tech Capstone Expo and seeing the presentations and projects from students across engineering and architecture disciplines. The talent and innovation on display gave us a lot of confidence about the future of manufacturing and engineering.
Thank you to the Georgia Tech team for allowing us to be part of the experience. We are proud to support hands-on learning opportunities that help prepare students for real-world careers. Big thanks to the Winton Machine team for their collaboration with the students. We are grateful for a team of individuals willing to invest in the next generation.

We celebrated Mohammad’s retirement on April 30th, just shy of four years since he joined Team Winton. He was a wonderful reflection of our core values by his willingness to help others and his extensive lathe-machining skills. He will be dearly missed, but we're forever grateful for his patience and the excellent standards he set. We wish him all the very best!

28 years into building Winton Machine Company - Engineered & Manufactured in the USA, I’ve had my share of memorable moments, but this one stands out.
Sitting in the East Room, surrounded by owners and from across the country, was a powerful reminder of what we all show up to do every day.
It wasn’t about politics. It was about people.
People creating jobs.
People solving problems.
People investing in their teams and their communities.
Running a small business isn’t easy, and everyone in that room knows that. The President spoke about many of the issues our country is addressing today; however, when he shared a story about practical problem-solving and cost savings on the reflecting pool construction project, it felt less like a speech and more like one talking to a room full of others who live it every day.
That’s what stuck with me.
We may come from different industries and different parts of the country, but the mission is the same—build something meaningful, take care of your people, and keep moving forward. Congratulations to all the U.S. Small Business Administration Small Business and Export winners. What an honor!
Big thanks to President Trump, the White House social team, all of the military and Secret Service personnel greeting and keeping us safe, Administrator Loeffler and her team for hosting this remarkable event, and for making us feel so welcome. It was great to hear from the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright. Thank you,
National Association of Manufacturers and Stef Webb for your continued support. George Winton and I would not be in business today without our incredible Winton team and the support of so many. We are grateful to all those who have supported us and continue to support us, including the 2026 Tax package, which is helping us innovate and create new products right here in the U.S.A.
