This is Island Maternity Hospital, a birth home of multitudes including me. You will find it in the heart of Lagos, Western Nigeria. Some call this place Lagos Island and others, simply “Eko” which means...actually what does it really mean? Some say Eko is gotten from the farm (Oko) of the first settlers, some say it’s a Benin war camp, in fact in the lands of Indonesia and India you will hear the word Eko, which means first born. But today, especially among “Lagosians” (those born in Lagos) it is Eko for show, and though you will find the best of fashion and entertainment in this rather fascinating place, it is indeed steeped in history. In this place, you will hear names such as “Da Souza” and “Da Silva.” They come from Brazilians who settled in this Island. So, how is Eko for show a land of settlers? Crosslantic will bring you stories like this and much more.

Calabar - the common thread that minds nations

Calabar - the common thread that binds nation together. Calabar Theological College Jamaica founded in the 18th century, Calabar High School, Kingston Jamaica now 107 years old and the Presbyterian church in Calabar Nigeria sometimes known as the Scots Missionary Mary Slessor's church. Some of the people who founded the Theological College in the 18th century were slaves that came from Calabar Nigeria. They gave it the name because the scenic beauty in their new environment reminded them of where hey came from - Nigeria. You will get to hear details of these stories and more from the stable of Crosslantic. Watch this space!
Thank you so much for liking. Telling stories and building bridges is what Crosslantic is all about. Watch this space!!!

My Creek Town Adventure A combination of love and lands
In 1914 there was a world war; it happened again in 1939. And somewhere deep within, I wondered where Africa’s voice was in all of this. Today we face a different kind of war; it affects the whole world. What does Africa have to say? I think we have plenty. I think Africa’s voice can be a vision of hope in these critical times and beyond. This is what Crosslantic is all about – speaking from the beautiful, dynamic and mysterious African perspective. It all culminates into a mind blowing publication but enjoy the tidbits for now.
