ISSCA Members,

Here it is, the big news you’ve all been waiting for, the registration page for the 2024 ISSCA NATIONALS is now live! Link here and below…

https://issca.org/welcome-to-the-2024-issca-nationals/

We wanted to do something cool and different this year. You’ve all read about (or participated in) The Hot Rod Power Tour, Drag Week, One Lap of America, and other cool things like that. They are so much fun we figured we’d try it ourselves with the ISSCA family! We will be hitting some cool venues with fun and exciting racing as we work our way across Ohio towards the Back to the Bricks / Woodward Dream Cruise in the Motor City area.

We are also excited to announce Mr. Jon Moss himself will be there at the host hotel Friday signing his new book and anything else you can bring for him to sign. Guaranteed to be a memorable week as we race and road trip our way from Ohio to Michigan!

Here is the schedule for the week (subject to change):

Wednesday, August 14 — Road Course (Nelson Ledges - Garrettsville, Ohio)

Thursday, August 15 —Autocross & Drag Racing (Summit Motorsport Park - Norwalk, Ohio)

Friday, August 16— Registration / Spend the day with Jon Moss (Host Hotel Flint, Michigan). Jon will be checking out our cars and signing his new book, our cars, and any personal items you bring.

Saturday, August 17 — Car Show, Stereo Sound-Off (Flint, Michigan)

For the Back to the Bricks Show, we have arranged for ISSCA member to get exclusive first/early entrance parking to the BTTB car show on Harrison Street (between 1st and 2nd Streets) for up to 70 cars. That will be one whole block filled with B-Bodies! From 6am to 8am we will roll in with our cars, and after that Harrison Street will be blocked off at 2nd Street, which means that exiting traffic from down town will have to exit east on Second Street and will not be able to go through on Harrison. It will be foot traffic only. This location is in the heart of the BTTB car show and close to vendors and food trucks.

Harrison is a pretty wide street so it should accommodate our cars nicely with parking on both sides of the Street and also down the middle. Should be a blast and great exposure and location for our cars.

Looking forward to an epic Nationals and we hope to see you there. Any questions please let me know.

Daytona Turkey Run Listens to You!

Updated Mobility Device Regulations!

Daytona Turkey Run Re-Evaluates Mobility Device Regulations for a More Inclusive Event

The Daytona Turkey Run team values your feedback! We heard your concerns about the recent mobility device regulations and are committed to creating a safe and inclusive event for all attendees.

Based on your valuable input, we've re-evaluated our regulations to ensure accessibility while prioritizing safety.

Here's the update:

Approved Mobility Devices:

Single-seat scooters for one person.
Two-seat scooters for two people. (maximum)
Must be a commercially manufactured, 3-wheeled or 4-wheeled scooter.
Dimensions no larger than 32 inches wide by 63 inches long.
No roofs allowed on scooters.
Electric-powered scooters only. (no gas)

Not Permitted:

Golf carts of any size.
No trailers or towed objects allowed with the scooter.
Scooters exceeding the size limitations.
One wheeled or two wheeled devices.
Bicycles, unicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, wheelies, scooters, or any other device that does not comply with the Approved Mobility Device section above.

Important Rules:

Operate scooters at a walking pace only.
Do not leave scooters unattended or block walkways, rows, or designated spaces.
You must be 18 years of age or older to operate a scooter.

Our goal is to accommodate those who need mobility assistance while maintaining a safe environment for everyone. These revised regulations allow for a wider range of approved scooters while ensuring a smooth flow of traffic.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we strive to make the Daytona Turkey Run a truly inclusive event. We look forward to seeing you there!

ISSCA Members,

We’re baaaaaaaack! After the track canceled on us in Memphis last year we decided to go all out and go to an amazing venue – so here we are at another world class facility. This is always one of my favorite times of the year, and we’ve sure waited long enough to get together.

All your hard work, all the planning, and all the anticipation come together at ISSCA Nationals. And yes, we know that not one of us did every planned mod and every planned upgrade in time for Nats. But that’s ok because the most important thing is that YOU ARE HERE!. Old friends and new friends converge to celebrate, socialize, laugh, compete, and shoot the breeze in another new and fun venue.

Some of you know how much work went into this, but just to give you an idea of what the ISSCA Board does to prepare for this event: we have 2 BOD calls a month and then a BOD call every single week in the last crucial weeks before Nationals. Members of the Board sacrifice many of their Wednesday nights to bring you what we feel is a cool event - and judging by the feedback we think you all like it too. It’s like having a second job doing this. An unpaid, unglorified second job done out of love for the B-Body community - so please make sure you give the BOD Members a friendly wave or even hook them up with a tasty cold adult beverage to thank them for the great event this week.

Also, please know that it’s never too late to register for other events. Every single year we get someone who decides to autocross or road race or drag race for the first time and literally every single time it takes days to wipe the smiles off their faces. If you have any thoughts of doing more events but feel nervous or embarrassed or even scared to try them – please see me or one of the BOD members privately and we will help you as best, we can. We were all novices at this stuff at some point and in ISSCA we are lucky and blessed to have an amazing group of people who not only love to compete but love to help and teach others.

We are not a big club in terms of membership, but we are a lot bigger than most think. Our members don’t always remember to renew their memberships, and they don’t always participate or come to Nationals, but they are there, on the perimeter, as friends, family, ex-owners, current owners who are dormant, etc. And when they need something, we are always there, always, to welcome them back and help them out because that’s how this community was built. There is a hardcore nucleus of us who keep this going but I always hear from the outer ring of B-Body nuts who love how we keep it all together and appreciate that we are always there for them. Yes, we could remain proprietary and only help or associate with dues paying ISSCA members, but it goes much deeper than that. The Impala community brotherhood is massive and stretches all over the country. Most of us can probably name 10 or more people we are friends with and keep in touch with because of these amazing, big boats we all love to play with, whether they still own their cars or not.

We are one of the few car cultures that has an incredibly diverse group of people who love our cars. You don’t see the melting pot of people we have in a Porsche club or a Vette club or even a Fiero club. The Impala SS was different from the beginning because it appealed to so many walks of life. Performance guys. Style guys. Cruising guys. Family guys. Young people. Old people. Rich people. Poor people. Wagon guys. Sedan guys. Police car guys. Rap fans. Rock fans. Country fans (we like both kinds – Country AND Western). Big guys. Little guys. Etc etc. It doesn’t matter where you look, you can find people of any social strata in our club, and I love it.

After all, you have to be a little crazy to love these big powerful land yachts but it’s what I love most about ISSCA and the membership. It’s like our own crazy family reunion once a year. I look forward to seeing everyone and seeing how they have been over the past year and I always look forward to meeting new members as well. So please, if you don’t know me personally come up and introduce yourself. And if you had a great time please feel free to join the ISSCA Board to help out and make 2024 even better! Volunteers always welcome and appreciated!

Peace, love, and horsepower,

Bill
