For Storm not having a meet, Storm swimmers sure were in a LOT of meets this weekend!
On Friday, MargaretR (19th), CypressL (14th), AddiL (56th), and QuincyL (5th!!) all represented Team Wisconsin in the Central Zones Open Water Championships.
On Saturday, 85 Storm swimmers represented at least five different summer rec programs around the Dane County area.
And on Sunday, our Masters swimmers opened up their summer competition schedule at the Grown Up Swim League meet in Ridgewood.

Next weekend, we get back at with two meets -- while many of our swimmers are in Fond Du Lac, 11 Storm swimmers will be participating in the Central Zone Multicultural Meet in Madison.

It's a wild, busy summer for Storm and its families, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

We got a weekend free of meets last weekend, so we took our Tropical swimmers to the zoo! The Henry Vilas Zoo was kind enough to set us up in the Polar Bear Lounge so that we could reward the winter Tropical Storm swimmers for all their hard work during the Storm-A-Thon fundraiser. Watching kids' eyes light up around the polar bears, flamingos, and otters made for a fantastic day away from the pool.

We split the squad last weekend and broke ANOTHER half dozen team records. The hot streak continues with 90%+ best times at West Bend and multiple swimmers with AAA cuts at UW Madison. We're putting together a fantastic summer, one week at a time!

It's not often to see long course records broken in May. In fact, according to SwimCloud...of the 20+ teams that swam at the MAC meet this month, only one of them broke a club record. US. And we broke 5! A fantastic start to the long course season!

It might be long course season, but we're still swimming yards too! Our second meet of the season was a dual meet battle against New Berlin Swim Club. It was a nailbiter, separated by just over 100 points! Our 45% best times were 10% above the meet average, and we won 54% of the top 3 medals for the meet. With just over a month to go until the Wisconsin Open Water Champs, we now have over 40 swimmers qualified to compete!

⛳️ Our 4th Annual Spring Golf Scramble at The Oaks was a great day! The weather started off cool and rainy, but we ended up with sunshine and even a bald eagle sighting 🦅

Congrats to Brandon, Randy, Tim, and Dustin for winning the scramble with a score of 56 -- 15 under par! They also earned a round at The Oaks.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, hole sponsors, and silent auction donors for your support. We appreciate everyone who helped make the event possible!

We had a lot of fun, some great competition, and awesome prizes. Thanks to everyone who joined us, we hope to see you again next year!

It was a big weekend last weekend as we kicked off the 2026 long course season with the Storm Spring Scramble. This meet features a 50 freestyle shootout, and Storm's own Becca Elliott & Grant Schmid each made it through 4 rounds of racing to win their respective divisions. With over 50% best times, it's a fantastic start to what looks to be a very successful LC season.

One of the important aspects of the long course season is open water racing. Lake swimming is a tough task, and for years our swimmers have blazed a trail through the murky unknown. Whether winning state championships in Lake Andrea, COVID era swims in Lake Ripley, Big Swell Swims around Madison, or swimming in the Cayman Islands -- open water swimming has taught our swimmers skills and helped them leap to higher levels in the pool.
We kicked off the season last weekend at Kalahari, with 50+ swimmers training in the lazy river. Now, we gear up for the competitions next month. Currently 44 swimmers are qualified for OW state, 14 for the Central Zone Championships, with half a dozen more close to qualifying.
We often talk about the Long Course Leap swimmers take--a big part of it is due to the bravery and determination in leaping into a lake where you can't see the bottom or the finish line.
