At the end of May, students from Patrick Marsh Middle School visited WPPI Energy to learn about careers in the utility industry. Our lineworkers, Bob and Jason, shared insights about their job, as well as the tools they use to stay safe. The students also got to hear from professionals at WPPI Energy. They learned where their power comes from, saw how drones help crews inspect utility poles, and discovered what electric meters do for their homes.

Education is a core value we strive to share in the community. Water Operators G and Cody were recently at Central Heights Middle School to teach students about their jobs for Career and College Month this May. Our crew explained some of the behind-the-scenes work they do in , gave hands-on experience flushing a fire hydrant, and shared the tools of their trade. We hope it expanded their thirst for knowledge!

Have you seen our crews out flushing fire hydrants?
The season is in progress, and the process helps clear iron and other mineral deposits out of water mains, which may cause discolored water for some residents. Don't worry! The water is safe to drink. We recommend running cold water for a few minutes until it clears.
