36 years ago today, President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act, or the ADA. The ADA is arguably one of the most well known pieces of civil rights legislation, and it protects those with disabilities in the United States. It covers employment, accessibility, and accommodation rights, and also includes a list of what classifies as a disability.

36 years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act became law.
Today, Jessica unexpectedly ran into our friend Brian after Mass. It was a simple moment, but one that reminds us what true inclusion looks like. Community. Access. Belonging.
This week, we also experienced that same spirit during our Limb Different Airport Day at EAA AirVenture, where children with limb differences and their families gathered to explore aviation, build confidence, and discover new possibilities together.
The ADA opened doors. It challenged barriers and expanded opportunity. At Rightfooted Foundation, we’re committed to building on that legacy by creating more opportunities for independence, mentorship, innovation, and community.
Here’s to 36 years of progress, and to the work still ahead.
Happy Anniversary, ADA.
