Try these heart-healthy tips from the American Heart Association:
1) Eat fish (particularly fatty fish) at least two times a week
2) Limit your sodium intake to 1500 mg or less per day
3) Eat more fruits, vegetables and high-fiber, whole-grain foods
4) Choose water instead of a sugar-sweetened beverage

Another HEALTHY TIP from AHA: Did you know that up to 75 percent of the sodium we eat comes from processed foods? Cooking from scratch can help you keep your sodium down to no more than 1500 milligrams a day. If you have high blood pressure, consuming less sodium can help lower your blood pressure.

March is National Nutrition Month — try this heart-healthy tip from the American Heart Association: Sugar-sweetened beverages are the No. 1 source of added sugars in Americans’ diets. Aim for no more than 450 calories from sugar-sweetened beverages a week (based on a 2000-calorie diet). Better still, choose water or unsweetened teas.
