We are pleased to announce that the Community Drugstore mural panel at the South Sumter Resource Center is now complete.

Kendall Deas, Ph.D writes this about his father:
Dr. Wilson C. Deas, the only African American independent Registered Pharmacist in the midlands of SC, served the South Side of Sumter for over 40 years as a healthcare provider. Everyone who met him knew he was committed to the health and well-being of Southside residents and everyone else in Sumter. When residents lacked funds due to hard times, he allowed them to get vital medications and other incidentals for the family on credit. They would sign his "credit book" and pay monthly or however they could afford to do so. That's because as a health care provider, he was committed to making sure everyone in the Sumter community he cared about and loved received the best healthcare and advise possible.
