Elections are important! They give the people in our community a chance to voice their beliefs and be represented accordingly. It is time for you the people to speak up and be heard. Please get out and vote for what you want our future to look like.

I have no doubt that the current board members love our students and want the best education possible for them. I also believe that they have qualifications and a resume that display their hard work over the years. My sincere hope is that all parents and community members place the utmost importance on academic excellence. Now that we understand that this is a given, what are we going to do with the issues facing us today, tomorrow, and for years to come?

We cannot close schools again. The damage this has done will set most if not all students back for months if not years. How do we recover from this moving forward? First, we have to put the focus on the students! Time, energy, and funding, needs to be placed on the students directly. We must evaluate their current status and have a growth plan to get them where they need to be and how to help them exceed even past their potential.

I know masks are a divisive topic. But should they be? My main focal point here is recognizing the negative effects that prolonged long-term mask wearing can have on children. If we don’t understand that, or at least look at research showing the damages they can have, then how can we recover from this issue? Ask yourself: Do you really want to wear a mask or mask your children for months, years, or indefinitely? If you don’t, isn’t it reasonable to stand up, fight for your kids, and at least ask questions?

I believe in choice. I'm thankful we all have a choice. We need to continue to stand for having a choice and embracing personal freedoms. Of course we need cohesion, order, and togetherness. That's why we have communities. But within those communities we have choice. I am not anti-anything, I believe that would make me closed minded and ignorant. Can I be for mask choice and vaccine choice, and still not be anti-everything? I believe so! Medical decisions should be decided at the private family level, not by schools and government. I know many, if not all parents do not like it when an outside influence tells their child what to do without consenting with them first. So why is this any different.? I stand for your choice!

I know Critical Race Theory is a hot topic as well. My problem with Critical Race Theory is that it views everyting in society through the lense of race and not the indivudual. I do not focus my attention on race when I coach kids, teach, or speak to friends, family, and community members. I don't think this behavior should be taught. Rather teach love and respect, honesty, and integrity, and just flat out how to treat one another. I believe there are other programs out there that can teach about our nations history- both the good and the ugly. I also know people are worried that CRT can be disguised as other programs. My goal is to be completely transparent with whatever curriculum is presented and let the parents have a say on what their child is taught. And just because it is Social Emotional Learning (SEL) does not mean that it is CRT in disguise. We need to stop with the blanket statements. I have a very dear friend who has an awesome SEL program, and it has nothing to do with race, but rather focuses on positive self-talk, and how you treat each other. Something I think all our kids can benefit from.

I really believe administration and teachers want to teach our kids the best curriculum available. My hope here is that the schools and board will be more transparent and upfront with what is being taught and what education looks like moving forward. Parents, you must step up! You must be more involved and invest in your child’s education. Better parents build better families, and better families build better communities. Let’s make this community the strongest it has even been. Invest in your kids and give them the love and attention they deserve. By the people, for the kids.

I am running because I want to be a fresh face on the board. My opponent in this race is an incumbant running for a third term. I think a new voice and perspective is needed. I want to be your voice, and I want to have open communications with the schools and communities. Please get out and vote! Vote for Friis. Thank you for your support.

Dads on Duty! Who's with me? Love this idea, and the impact it would have on our students at the high school level. Parent involvement in our kid's schools is one of my core values. Let me know your thoughts on this idea.

So, a group of dads decided to show up not just for their kids - but for the whole student body - to help maintain a positive environment. has more. https://t.co/Uux3q...
