Grayson’s WILD RUMPUS 1st birthday party was a success! “Where the wild things are” seemed the most fitting for our sweet and spicy one year old!

Happy 1st Birthday to my sweet baby boy!

One year ago, you decided to surprise us with an unmediated, unassisted home birth as I gave birth to you on our bathroom floor because you came so fast. A homebirth was not our plan and was frankly something I didn’t think I could ever do. It’s funny how God has a way of working things out though while surprising you. (Birth story below for those interested)

We were all set to deliver at the Birthing Inn (independent birthing center) with our midwife (same place I delivered Cayden). Bags had been packed for weeks and we had spent that week savoring our time with Cayden by adventuring to the children’s museum, odyssey, parks and of course I was still attending some vie workouts at 39 weeks pregnant because working out is what helps keep me sane 🤪

Early Saturday morning around 240am, I woke up from contractions and because they were already coming around 3-4 minutes apart, there was no way I was sleeping through them. I immediately started timing them on my app and thought to myself that I would labor at home for awhile and see if they would continue or if it was false labor (also something i experienced with Cayden previously). Before I knew it, 2 hours had passed. Stephen had come into the bathroom a few times to make sure I was ok and see if we should call my doula. Apparently, I told him to go back to bed as I was content at laboring by myself and just didn’t think I was progressing as fast as I actually was.

Surprised Cayden and Grayson with a late night Zoolights adventure!

Me as a first time mom with Cayden: “we definitely need to be home for an early bedtime”
Me as a 2nd time mom: “8pm is the only time for a Zoolights excursion tonight- sign us up!”

Thankful I’m choosing to MAKE the MEMORIES and having fun while doing it!

So thankful for this little family of mine! So glad we had the chance to fly to Austin, TX to see my sister and her husband, and finally get to meet her sweet little boy! Oh how we’ve dreamed and prayed for each other’s families since we were little.
