The Summit Department of Community Programs is hosting a summer health fair and swim lesson on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 12PM to 8PM at the Summit Family Aquatic Center (SFAC), located at 100 Ashwood Avenue. This event is free and open to SFAC members.

The event will begin with a free swim lesson at 12PM for SFAC members and paid guests. Swimming instructors will lead children in a swimming lesson that will include instructions and information on how to safely enter the water, hold breath while underwater, floating skills, and basic stroke techniques.

A health and safety fair will follow the swim lesson, from 1PM to 5PM, featuring health and safety displays from the Summit police and fire departments, Westfield Regional Health Department, and other local health and safety partners with information on how to stay safe at the pool during the summer months.

The first float night of the season will be held from 5PM to 7:30PM, featuring a float parade, photo booth, splash contest, games, and more, sponsored by the GRACE Youth Advisory Council. SFAC members may invite guests for free to this portion of the event.

At last night’s Council Meeting, we were honored to accept a generous donation from the Junior League of Summit, which will be recognized at the brand-new Mabie Playground.
This contribution is especially meaningful because the Junior League played a pivotal role in the creation of Junior League Junction during the 1996–1997 playground project. The organization led fundraising efforts, helped with the demolition and construction of the play equipment, and hosted the grand opening celebration when the playground first opened in the late 1990s.
We are grateful for the Junior League’s continued commitment to our community and proud to have their support as we usher in a new chapter for Mabie Playground.
Thank you to April Montgomery (President), Cristina Curiale (President-Elect) and Leslie Salcedo (Fund Development VP) for joining us.
