Flying K Ranch
It started with a desire to find a unique breed of cattle that stood out from the norm… & I found it. Braunvieh cattle are NOT a cross.
Having grown up watching my dad, TF Lumsden, raise many different breeds of cattle over the years, his Braunvieh girls caught my eye! It is the oldest original breed known in the world. It is a great dual purpose breed... meat & milk, not to mention very docile and easy to work with.

This picture made me smile today… an iron fence separates 3 different pastures.
The heifers believe the grass is greener on the other side, but I don’t think herd bull, King Air, is admiring the grass 💚
“Not yet, big boy…not yet”.
PS: normally the young ladies are not near an adjoining fence as him, but I moved them around for a few hours this afternoon to graze in thicker grass with an iron fence surrounding it.
Funny how it looks like King Air “thinks” he is hidden behind that small bush as he stares at the beautiful girls. lol

Friday… a perfect day for a road trip with cattle trailer in tow, hauling a favorite young bull of mine.
I truly believe I meet the nicest people wanting to know more about this magnificent Braunvieh breed.
New Braunvieh owner, Alyssa and I “clicked” immediately and spent fun time talking about cattle and farm life experiences.
Her and her husband decided to go forward with the purchase of a full-blood Braunvieh bull, Flying K Gentleman Jack. Her dream is to grow a Braunvieh herd and Jack will be her herd sire to lead the way. She has a couple of Brown Swiss cows and is anxious to start a beef herd. It will be exciting to see her dream come true in the years ahead and I will always be here to answer any questions. 🐮
Gentleman Jack was originally my “keeper” full-blood bull for my smaller, younger OB girls… but after carefully examining all the
pedigrees, I found too many duplicate relatives and decided I didn’t want a bunch of “soggy” calves. Jack is the lightest traditional bull we have ever raised. I never see a Braunvieh bull at his age of 14 months with such a light coat, and I absolutely LOVE it ❣️ Most know I am not a fan of dark hides on my cattle and I always find others who agree with me, which makes me one happy cowgirl‼️
Thank you again, Alyssa, and keep the pictures coming in the months ahead. 😊

A morning picture as I was driving my littles to school of Elsa & Baby Cakes in front of our home.
I have had so many inquiries about them but no true commitment or deposit yet.
Both sired by the JMS bull we call King Air.
Will be ready to breed this fall.
One potential buyer would need someone to haul them 1250 miles (19+ hours).
Let me know if that’s a possibility for a driver around Hopkins County, and I will give your name to him.
Danny & I will deliver to shorter distances.
Would prefer they go together. They have been pasture friends since they were born.
Thanks 😊

Ohhhhh, my girls (and boys) are going to be so happy😊 We need rain and the grass isn’t growing fast enough… so how about some extra yummy, fertilized hay, with no weeds, plus cotton seed to go with your grain, my luvs? Gonna be eating well this evening 😋 Those close enough to see him unloading had their eyes fixed on what Shrek was moving.
Thank you Danny❣️
PS: we ran out of our pasture hay in February.

Meet Flying K Princess Elsa 🐮
She is the daughter of one of my beloved cow, Queen Elsie, and her sire is King Air (JMS Mr Asher). I have a couple of her sisters and decided to see if pastures are greener for her at another ranch. She’s a PB, 15 months old (younger in the picture) shy, never aggressive, just sweet as her name implies. Let me know if you are interested.
