As the week comes to an end, our recruits are hard at work training. Today and tomorrow will be dedicated to outdoor practical exercises, giving them the opportunity to apply everything they have learned throughout the week.

Our instructor cadre has gone above and beyond, sacrificing time with their families and even spending their own money to invest in these young people. Their dedication is helping shape future leaders and making a positive impact on our community. We simply could not do this without their commitment and the support of our community.

A special thank you to D&M Truck Center for generously providing dinner for House 1 Crew and the instructors last night. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps make this program possible.

Today, several of our apparatus are staffed by firefighters and instructors from across the United States. Their dedication, knowledge, and willingness to volunteer their time are paramount to the success of our Junior Fire Academy. These men and women bring a wealth of experience to help train and inspire the next generation of firefighters.

We are also honored to have Ladder 8812 staffed with a fourth firefighter, David Eigenberg from the TV series Chicago Fire. Many know David as “Herrmann,” but today he is here supporting the fire service and working alongside firefighters.

David has a genuine passion for first responders and shared that riding along and training with firefighters is something that is personally important to him. We appreciate his support of the fire service and his commitment to spending time with our instructors, firefighters, and recruits.

Thank you to all of the firefighters, instructors, and supporters who make this academy such a special experience for our youth.

We are honored to have David Eigenberg from the TV series Chicago Fire spending the week with our Junior Academy recruits. He is volunteering his time because of his deep respect for first responders and his desire to give back to the fire service.

Throughout the week, David will be participating in academy activities, working alongside the recruits, and even riding out on the fire truck. If you see him responding with our crews, don’t be surprised—he is fully engaged in supporting this program and learning alongside the next generation of firefighters.

A sincere thank-you to David for his generosity, dedication, and support of our youth. This week at Sullivan Station, five Junior Firefighters from across the state are participating in the 19th Sullivan Fire Academy. With more than 40 students enrolled, this year’s academy is providing valuable hands-on training and education to the next generation of firefighters.

Thanks to funding from the Missouri Division of Fire Safety, all students were able to attend at no cost. We are also honored to have more than 25 instructors from across the United States volunteering their time and expertise to help train these young firefighters.
