Life is better with a roof!

It’s been a much needed refreshing start to 2026! 2025 was about as bad as it could have gotten. An absolutely brutal kidding season which we will happily leave in the past.
This year, our 11 does had 18 kids over a two cycle span smack dab in the middle of a major winter storm and extreme cold with mortality 0% (did have to euthanize one at about 10 days old with deficiencies).
Great to see some lively kids running around!

Remember that barn that collapsed on us last year? It’s finally taking shape again!

It’s been a brutal start to the year after a tough 2024. Dealt with a high mortality rate with kids born last spring. Moving in to 2025, we were excited to get kidding underway and put the last year behind us.
Mother Nature had other plans. This barn, built around 40 years ago, succumbed to the weight of ice and snow.
To top things off, we also ended up with an early miscarriage and two still-borns from a couple first time mothers.
If there’s any silver lining, the back aspect of this barn providing shelter and our kidding pens were unaffected. The tractor wasn’t damaged and we were able to free it from the trusses pinning it down. Not how we had hope to start the year, but here’s to moving forward through the adversity.

Everyone enjoying the spoils of our hard labor clearing saplings from a field to be baled this summer.
Really happy with the condition of all our does. Our three new registered does kidded a set of twins and two sets of triplets in spring (7/8 being males 😅).
Have retained three showing potential to be strong herd sires. Banded the rest a couple of weeks ago.
Our existing 50% registrable does are due to start kidding late summer with Flash Talker’s offspring!

After a rocky start together, our two herd sires are now best buds. Diego and Flash don’t ever wander too far apart from one another. Both look great in their summer coats.

Everyone is enjoying this mild Midwest winter!
Fab El Juan Diego (white) sorting things out with Flash Talker.
Great experience working with Perrodise Farms to reinforce genetics within our herd! Excited to put him to work soon!

Needing a hearty buck to cover your herd?! TRS Farm has a 3.5 year old dual registered AKGA/NKR buck eager to breed. He hasn’t required hoof trimming or deworming. Very easy to handle.
Had 9 sets of twins and 1 set of triplets last breeding season. He would be a great fit for registered or commercial operations of any size!
