The First Colony Branch Library in Sugar Land is one of 12 branches of Fort Bend County Libraries, a public library system in Fort Bend County, Texas.
Fort Bend County Libraries' First Colony Branch Library opened in June 1993, the second of the four new branches built with bond-election funds voted for in 1989. The mission of Fort Bend County Libraries is to bring people, information and ideas together to enrich lives, expand minds, and strengthen our community. Youth in grades K-5 are invited this Tuesday, June 23, at 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm, to the world of screen printing! Young Audience's of Houston teaching artist Danny Russo introduces participants to a versatile printing process utilized by visual artists worldwide. Countless ink and paper-color choices are possible; participants will be amazed by how quickly and easily they learn to make stunning prints. This workshop can also reveal to participants how math, science, and history are an integral part of the screen-printing process – which is actually centuries old! Free tickets will be available one hour before each program at the youth reference desk. Attendees must be present to receive a ticket.

Join us on Tuesdays at 10:15 am, in the Meeting Room, for Mother Goose Time! This multisensory activity time is designed for pre-walking infants and their caregivers. This program has limited attendance and can only accommodate up to 15 infants.

This week’s story time theme is Summer Treats! Pajama Night Story Time is on Monday nights at 6:00 pm, for families with children of all ages. Toddler Time (ages 1-3 years) is Wednesday and Thursday at 10:15 am, and Family Story Time, for families with children of all ages, is on Wednesday at 11:30 am. Youth in grades 4-8 are invited to create a 3D wooden dinosaur this Thursday, June 18, at 2:00 pm! Participants will be able to choose from a select variety of dinosaur puzzles to build and decorate. Materials for this program were made possible by the Friends of First Colony Branch Library. No registration required, but space is limited; first-come, first-served.

Unearth the past and explore with the Creature Teacher this Tuesday, June 16, at 2:00 pm! Are you ready to venture on an extraordinary animal educational journey filled with laughter, learning, and awe-inspiring creatures? Join the Creature Teacher for a live-animal program featuring exciting exotic animals! Can't make it to this performance? Do not worry! The same performance will take place on Saturday, July 25, at 2 pm. This program is made possible thanks to the Friends of the First Colony Branch Library.
