Cat Rescue Petersburg
Rescued cats for adoption -- see http://www.adoptapet.com/shelter72570-cats.html Our senior foster, Meeko, was 17 and passed away gently Aug. 23, 2011.
As a branch of Cat Rescue, Inc., we specialize in bonded pairs of cats, but we have foster kittens and cats from age 8 weeks to 11 years old. We are grateful to have a devoted bottle feeder, Wendy, who has saved so many tiny lives and spent thousands of sleepless hours caring for fragile kittens.

Joe "Jojo" visited a heart specialist at The Cove in Suffolk today for testing, after our vet found him to have a serious heart murmur. Turns out his heart disease level is currently medium to light, which is a relief. This will take him out of our adoption lineup permanently, but he doesn't need medication yet. He'll go back for reevaluation in six months, then we'll go from there. Joe is always a good car traveller, but he is a hard-headed growler at the vet, so he had light sedation. This big boy was saved off the street in Hopewell in 2014 and is age 6.
I ❤ him, too!

Flea Allergy Dermatitis Can Make Cat Itch and Scratch Like Crazy It can take only a flea or two to trigger flea allergy dermatitis in a susceptible cat; FAD can lead to a behavioral condition called neurodermatosis.

Sharing a shared graphic from another rescue organization -- interesting tip about putting a little sugar in the daily water.

Magnificent fluffy cats: I received photos by adopters from back about five years ago, orange George (formerly Jose) and Rowdy, a Maine C**n mix. Both are gorgeous -- it makes me so happy to see these handsome boys! Especially George, who has allergies, but his mom gave him the chance he needed to prove that it was no huge deal. I always thought it was so kind and understanding that when I told her his allergies often made his eyes red and watery, she said, "We have allergies, too!" ♡

Lover boy Samba was adopted at Chesapeake Petsmart today! I know he's happy to be "parolled." I wish I'd gotten a picture of his tail -- it was fat like a bratwurst.

Whatcha know, yesterday we met the transport from two high-kill NC shelters, and this guy was in there, stuffed into a tiny carrier, with no paperwork or even a name. Where did he come from? He appears to be a neutered male, very sweet and very sleepy, happy with a soft bed, food and water. No one knows anything, or admits knowing anything! So for now, he is Tony. He'll head to our vet on Monday for testing and shots. It could be that someone somewhere along the way just desperately wanted to save his life, "just another brown tabby."

Sweet little Clover was adopted today less than 24 hours after going into the Greenbrier Petsmart pet center. She is 6 months old now.

Our cat boss is hauling our litter to us today, about $400 worth! Glad it's cool weather for unloading it into the shed. Rich is leaving a senior cat at the vet and taking another cat on to the emergency vet where she'll get a transfusion. I wonder if our vet dreads to see us coming. She's excellent, so maybe she likes all these odd cases we drag in from our little "cat farm."
