In 2019, I started a nonprofit to help kidpreneurs promote their products and services in a safe and fun environment. Our last event was 2020 before COVID. After many requests to bring it back, it’s here! However, we are starting back at square one. We are looking for kidpreneurs and sponsors for the expo.

I RAN OUT OF MONEY!!!!!

These past few weeks, I had the privilege to present and mail out all the money Suffolk Executive Office Foundation raised for the $300 Cash Grants. This was given to small, local businesses and entrepreneurs. It is a very, rewarding feeling that I can help and give them encouragement, hope and relief. I know this is only a small amount, but my sincere hope is that the small businesses and entrepreneurs multiple exponentially.
The challenges small businesses face are payroll, rent, supplies, utilities, insurance, business adaptations, online sales/e-commerce, delivery or takeout, developing new product lines, deep cleaning, PPE, protective barriers, and the list goes on. Right now, small businesses need customers. Supporting your local businesses!

CASH RELIEF GRANT FOR ENTREPRENEURS,
SOLOPRENEURS AND
MICRO/SMALL BUSINESSES

I am in the process of raising money to be able to help entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and micro/small business owners in financial need due to COVID-19. So many Entrepreneurs, small business owners are in an exceedingly difficult time right now. I am working with partners and sponsors on this grant in order to help with the needs of our business community. Donations are tax deductible.
Suffolk Executive Offices Foundation is a 501(c)3 impact foundation. All the money that we raise during this time will go towards Entrepreneur Relief Grant.
That is why I am going to open applications for $300 relief grants. I know it is not much, but I want to step up and help as much as I can. Funds dispersed to businesses do not need to be repaid. All I ask, is to “pay it forward” to those in need.
I cannot help and give money to everyone who applies. Please understand that I must analyze each case by case and it depends on how much funds are available. Applications for the grant are open from July 1, 2020 through July 15, 2020.
Funds are to be used for investment capital for your business. ex. Marketing, advertising, fixed cost expenses, etc.
I should have more information about this Entrepreneurs Relief Grant in a few weeks.

I am excited that you are exhibiting at the Young Entrepreneur Business Expo. Just a reminder that is this Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10am-2pm, at Hilton Garden Inn, 100 East Constance Road, Suffolk, VA.
Some simple preparation for the Young Entrepreneur Business Expo:
• Don’t forget signage! Make sure you have a business sign in front of your table. Poster board is fine. It can be handmade.
• Interact with your customers. Make eye contact, smile, speak up, say hello and thank you.
• Do not be on your phone! Nothing is worse than ignoring your prospective customers.
• Price is everything. Customers do not want to ask for a price. Use price tags or signs to make the prices obvious.
• Stand up straight. Try not to sit as it may come off as being bored.
• If your items are handmade, bring your equipment and show your prospective customers how they are made.
• Remember to advertise your business. Invite your family, friends and neighbors to the Expo. They can vote for you for the best Young Entrepreneur Business Expo’s People’s Choice Award. The kidpreneur with the most votes wins $100!

Also, all kidpreneurs are automatically entered in the business competitions and the booths will be judged by local business owners based upon three criteria:
o Highest business potential award and $300
o Most original business idea award and $200
o Best presentation/creativity/booth award and $100

We are all here to make money, but try not to focus on the sales. Focus on having fun, meeting new people and learning from the experience.

Setup for the expo is between 9:00 am – 9:50 am. Expo hours are 10 am -2 pm.
