The newest fur baby to the farm. Meet “Sky”. He was found in my folk’s chicken coop and literally fell from the sky as a large bird was gonna make him a tasty treat. Thankfully the universe had other plans and he was dropped into our laps and joined our crazy crew.

Turn your lights off tonight to help our feathered friends have an safer migration 🦤🦉🦜🐥🦅

Migration Alert!! An estimated 400 million birds will be in the air across the U.S. tonight, as they migrate toward their breeding grounds. The next few mornings should be great for getting out birding, and it's setting up most of the country nicely for a busy Global Big Day on Saturday! But with so many birds aloft at night, it's also important to turn off nonessential outdoor lighting and to treat reflective windows to help the birds get safely to their destinations. Happy National Honey Bee Day!🐝🇺🇸

Pure, raw, US honey is hard to come by.🍯

US beekeepers work hard to take care of their bees and put in hours of work to harvest honey!

A simple way to know you’re putting real, US honey on your table is by purchasing it from a local beekeeper or honey company.

Visit your local farmer’s market, craft show, or conduct a simple Google search to find beekeepers in your area.

Some operations across the US also offer their honey online! 🐝

It may take some effort, but there are many ways to purchase real, US honey while supporting American and local beekeepers at the same time!🤗

Bats are amazing, wonderful native mammals. Consider adding bat boxes or roosting areas to your property to encourage bats to move in. There is nothing we love more than to sit on the front porch of the Homestead on a warm summer night as a family sipping sweet tea and watching bats 🦇 do their magic eating up all those delicious, pesky mosquitoes 🦟

This you can help bees, butterflies, and other pollinators by PLANTING SOMETHING!🐝🌱🥰

Visit your local nursery and ask about their pollinator-friendly plants, and/or do some research to find out what the best new addition to your garden or yard would be!

Or, if you’d rather, just let the wildflowers grow (leave mowing for another day😉), and cut back on the use of pesticides. 🐝
