Can every document be notarized online?

Florida Remote Online Notarization offers more flexibility than many clients realize, but remote access does not mean every notary related service can be completed through a screen.

Many affidavits, sworn statements, real estate and loan documents, estate planning documents, business records, and authorization forms may be completed remotely when the applicable requirements are satisfied.

At the same time, some services still require physical presence or additional safeguards.

🚗 VIN verification is one example. Florida requires an actual physical inspection of the vehicle, so this cannot be completed solely through RON.

💍 Florida notaries may solemnize marriages, but that authority is not included within Florida online notarization.

👥 Certain documents may also carry additional witnessing protections depending on the circumstances.

🪪 And simply appearing on camera is not enough. When a signer is not personally known to the online notary, Florida RON requires additional identity verification before the notarization can proceed.

The better question is not simply, “Can this be notarized online?”

It is whether every requirement connected to the document or service can be satisfied remotely.

That distinction matters. 💻🔐
