Would you check out a human being?
That’s the idea behind the Human Library, where people “borrow” real people for 30-minute conversations about lives and experiences they may not understand.
Not to debate.
Not to persuade.
Just to listen.
In her latest Friends & Neighbors column, Stacy Weller Ranieri asks a timely question: Could your community use something like this?

What makes a place feel like home?
Here in Martin County, sometimes it’s the things we pass every day without thinking much about how they got there.
🐟The sailfish statue in downtown Stuart...
🎫The Lyric Theatre...
🌸🌳The tabebuia trees that stop traffic every spring...
🌿The land preserved so future generations can enjoy open space instead of development.
In her latest Friends & Neighbors column, Stacy reflects on the quiet gifts that shape Martin County and the people who gave them for the best possible reason: because they loved this community and wanted to leave it better than they found it.
That’s what legacy really is.
Not just a name on a plaque. A gift that becomes part of the identity of a town.

Big news for Martin County families and maternal healthcare on the Treasure Coast. 💙
Our client, Martin County Healthy Start Coalition, Inc., is helping lead an important effort to restore local maternity care access through the proposed Treasure Coast Maternity Center. Last week, the Martin County Board of County Commissioners approved a 25-year lease agreement for the future site of the center, marking a major milestone for the initiative.
Since the closure of local labor and delivery services in 2025, many families have been forced to travel outside the county to give birth. The proposed Treasure Coast Maternity Center aims to bring safe, accessible maternity care back to the community through a family-centered model focused on supporting mothers, babies, and families close to home.
We are proud to support Martin County Healthy Start as they continue working alongside community leaders, healthcare advocates, and partners to move this vision forward.

Have you ever walked into a new opportunity and thought, “Why me?” 🤔
In her latest Friends & Neighbors column, Firefly President and Chief Illuminator Stacy Weller Ranieri reflects on a moment from the early days of The Firefly Group, when a phone call led to an opportunity that felt bigger, more complex, and more important than anything she had taken on before.
She got the job. She was excited. And she still wondered if she really belonged there.
At the time, that feeling seemed like imposter syndrome. But looking back, Stacy sees it differently.
Maybe it wasn’t proof that she was in over her head. Maybe it was growth.
Because sometimes confidence is built by moving through the experience, learning as you go, asking better questions, and trusting yourself to figure out what comes next.
🌱Sometimes that uneasy feeling means you’re becoming who the moment is asking you to be.
Have you ever experienced imposter syndrome, or realized later that what you were feeling was actually growth?

“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.”
Feels pretty accurate these days, doesn’t it? 🤔
The first version of a story moves fast. Often incomplete and sometimes wrong.
📣 But it spreads, sticks, and shapes perception before the facts have a chance to catch up.
We see this often in our world of communication outreach and public education. 📲 People trying to understand complex issues with limited information. The quick assumption turns into a simple sound bite. And before you know it, minds are made up.
Here’s the challenge: The truth usually isn’t simple. It takes context, explanation and time.
And in a world moving this fast, not everyone is willing to wait. ⏳
So maybe the real question is this:
Are we paying attention to what we’re seeing… or just reacting to what shows up first?
👉 Check out Stacy’s latest Friends & Neighbors column for a deeper dive into this, link in comments.

A major step forward for the Indian River Lagoon and Firefly was honored to play a small part in its celebration.🌿💧
Partners officially broke ground on Edgewater Wetland Park, a 50-acre constructed wetland system designed to improve water quality, restore natural habitat, and create a space the community can enjoy for years to come.
Years in the making, this milestone reflects the power of public-private collaboration, bringing together local leaders, environmental partners, and community stakeholders with a shared commitment to protecting one of Florida’s most vital natural resources.
Once complete, the system will redirect and naturally treat up to 3 million gallons of reclaimed water per day, helping reduce nutrient impacts to the lagoon.
Want to take a closer look at what’s ahead? We’ve dropped the full story in the comments below. 👇

Not everything that breaks is a loss.
Some things fall apart because they’ve taken you as far as they can.
Let it go. Make space. Watch what comes next. ✨
