Raw aluminum foil isn't production-ready. It has to get there first.
Before foil reaches your line, it needs to be slit to width, cut to length, coated for performance, cleaned of rolling oils, laminated to other substrates — or some combination of all of the above.
We broke down every major foil processing method in our latest guide: what each process does, when to use it, technical specs and industry applications.
If you source, specify or work with aluminum foil, it's worth a read.

Ever wonder why some aluminum foil tears at the slightest touch while other grades seem nearly indestructible?
Here's what most people don't realize: choosing the right foil isn't just about "thickness." It's actually a three-dimensional decision involving gauge, alloy chemistry, and temper (how the metal was heat-treated). A pharmaceutical blister pack needs completely different properties than an EMI shield in electronics — even if they look similar to the naked eye.
The bigger challenge? The industry uses microns, mils, inches, and "gauge" interchangeably, creating massive confusion for anyone trying to make a precise technical decision. One supplier quotes you in GSM (grams per square meter), another in thousandths of an inch, and suddenly you're comparing apples to oranges.
What's been your biggest frustration when sourcing specialty metals for your projects? Is it the confusing measurements, finding suppliers who'll handle small orders, or something else entirely?
