If we want to keep property taxes under control, Connecticut needs to fully fund ECS and provide more support for special education excess costs. This year, we essentially saw a one-year funding commitment, but towns need long-term certainty.
The good news is that we can prioritize education aid without growing government spending.
Some areas worth looking at include:
-Reduction in and increased oversight of state earmarks
-Reduce the number of special-interest tax breaks
-Limiting state borrowing and future debt costs
Education funding is one of the biggest drivers of local budgets. By focusing state resources on core responsibilities and helping towns cover education costs, we can reduce pressure on local property taxpayers.
There is so much high tech manufacturing and innovation taking place in our communities. I recently visited a company called Nanoviricides. Located in Shelton, their researchers, chemists, and medical experts have been developing anti-viral drugs that can tackle multiple viruses in a single medication administration. High-tech, science-based companies like Nanoviricides have become a cornerstone of our local economy. ππ¦ πΊπΈ

With the FIFA World Cup bringing fans from around the globe to the United States, Canada, and Mexico, thereβs no better time to showcase the businesses and attractions that make our community such a great place to visit. β½ππ·πΊ
I keep hearing that meaningful property tax relief is too expensive. But budgets are about priorities. If state leaders are serious about lowering the burden on homeowners and renters, they can make it a priority and fund real relief.
In this video, I explain why my property tax proposals are achievable and worth fighting for. And this is just the beginning; additional property tax relief proposals are coming soon.
