Due to the impending weather condition for this weekend, we thought it best to remind everyone of what you can do to avoid frozen pipes and plumbing issues during the storm.
1. Let faucets drip
In freezing conditions, let water drip slowly from both hot and cold taps. This prevents water from freezing inside the pipes. Focus on taps in colder areas like bathrooms.
2. Disconnect outdoor hoses
Remove hoses, drain them, and shut off the outdoor water supply. This prevents water in hoses and pipes from freezing and potentially causing damage.
3. Insulate pipes
Wrap pipes in insulation sleeves or use insulating tape, particularly in colder parts of your home like basements or attics.
4. Keep cabinet doors open
Allow warm air to circulate by opening the doors of cabinets that contain plumbing, especially those attached to exterior walls. This can help prevent the pipes inside from freezing.
Please note that our technicians will not travel on the roads unless they have been deemed safe by MODOT and have been plowed. Our technicians safety is very important to us. If you need help with any of these tips, please give us at call at 417-859-4464.

🔥🚿 It’s Time: 5 Signs Your Tank Water Heater Is Ready for Replacement 🚿🔥
Your water heater works quietly behind the scenes every day—until it doesn’t. Most tank-style water heaters last 8–12 years, and knowing the warning signs can help you avoid breakdowns, water damage, and rising energy bills. Here are the top signs it may be time for a replacement:
1️⃣ Your Water Heater Is Over 10 Years Old
Once your unit passes the 8–10 year mark, performance often declines and the risk of leaks increases. Check the serial number on the manufacturer’s label to find the age. If it’s in its second decade, replacing it now can prevent emergency failures later.
2️⃣ Rusty or Discolored Hot Water
Rusty, orange, or metallic-smelling hot water is a major sign of internal tank corrosion. If the issue only affects your hot water, the tank is likely breaking down from the inside—and replacement is the safest solution.
3️⃣ Water Around the Base of the Tank
Even a small puddle can signal a cracked or failing tank. Heating and cooling cycles weaken the inner lining over time, eventually leading to leaks. Once a tank starts leaking, replacement is the only fix.
4️⃣ Loud Popping or Rumbling Sounds
Sediment builds up in the bottom of the tank as it heats water. Over time, that sediment hardens and causes popping, cracking, or rumbling noises. This means the heater is working harder—and wearing out faster.
5️⃣ Inconsistent or Insufficient Hot Water
If your water runs out quickly or doesn’t get as hot as it used to, sediment buildup or failing heating elements may be to blame. When flushing no longer helps, it’s time to start shopping for a replacement.
A failing water heater doesn’t just inconvenience your home—it can lead to expensive damage and higher energy costs. If your unit is showing one or more of these signs, it might be time to upgrade to a more efficient tank model or even consider going tankless.
