**Welcome to Stevenson Elementary, Mrs. Ashlin Crowell!**

Stevenson Elementary School is excited to welcome Mrs. Ashlin Crowell, a familiar face to many in our community, to the Panther family this year!

Mrs. Crowell shares:

"Hello! My name is Ashlin Crowell, and I am so excited to be joining the Stevenson Elementary family this year. I have been teaching for 11 years, and I am a proud mom of two wonderful children (ages 4 and 7) who keep me busy and bring so much joy to my life.

When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending time with my family and making memories with my children while supporting them in the activities they enjoy most.

I am truly excited to meet my students and their families and can’t wait for a year filled with learning, growth, and fun!"

📚🐾 Welcome Back to First Grade, Mrs. Kassidy Gilliam! 🐾📚

Stevenson Elementary School is excited to welcome back Mrs. Kassidy Gilliam (known to many of us as Mrs. Kassidy or Ms. Maples) to the first grade classroom for the 2026–2027 school year!

Mrs. Gilliam shares:

"My name is Kassidy Gilliam, and I am so excited to be returning to the first grade classroom this year!
I've been lucky enough to serve our school in several different roles over the years—from EL aide, to first grade teacher, to Local Reading Specialist. While I've loved every minute of working with students and teachers across the building, I am excited to return to the place that's always felt like home—first grade.
I love first grade because it's where so many reading skills start to click. There is nothing better than watching a child realize they can read a word, then a sentence, then a whole book on their own. Being part of that growth is what made me want to become a teacher in the first place, and it's something I never take for granted.
When I'm not at school, you'll usually find me with a book in my hand, trying a new recipe, spending time with my dog, Charlie, or turkey hunting with my husband, Caleb.
I can't wait to meet my new group of first graders and get started on what is sure to be a great year!"

We are thrilled to welcome her back into the first grade classroom, where so many of our students already know and love her as Mrs. Kassidy/Ms. Maples, and where her passion for helping young readers grow will continue to shine.

📣Meet Our New 4th Grade Math Teacher!

Stevenson Elementary School is excited to welcome Haley Matthews to our faculty as our new 4th Grade Math Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year!

"Hello, Stevenson Panthers! My name is Haley Matthews, and I am excited to join the Stevenson Elementary family as a 4th Grade Math Teacher. I earned my Master’s degree in Accounting from UAB, but thanks to my sister’s encouragement, I discovered my true passion for teaching. I love helping students build confidence in math and watching the excitement on their faces when a new skill finally clicks. After teaching at Stevenson Middle School for the past 2.5 years, I am thrilled to begin this new chapter at SES. My husband, John, and I are proud to be part of this wonderful community, and I am especially excited that my daughter, Teagan, will be attending Stevenson Elementary alongside me. I look forward to helping our students learn, grow, and succeed this year. Go Panthers!"

We are excited to share that there will be several new faces joining the SES family for the upcoming school year! Over the next few days, we will be introducing them one at a time, and we are thrilled to start with our new secretary, Mrs. Abby Grider!

“Hi! I’m Abby Grider. I was born and raised in Jackson County. I attended Stevenson Elementary as a child myself and graduated from North Jackson High School in 2013. I’m a mom of 2 little boys and love reading, cooking, biking, and running. I’m so excited to begin my career as Stevenson Elementary’s secretary and to be back in a place I’ve always considered home.”

We are so happy to welcome Mrs. Grider home to SES and cannot wait for our students and families to get to know her! ❤️🖤🤍🩶

Happy retirement Mrs. Carol Jones! We are happy for you to get more time with your family! Thank you for your years at SES and the love you’ve shown to our students! Please come back and visit us often! We all love you so much.
