Existing-home sales across the country declined during August. However, the median sales price still increased, and the number of available homes continued to grow.
That combination may provide qualified buyers with more time to compare properties and potentially negotiate terms. For sellers, proper pricing and presentation remain especially important.
Closer to Wisconsin, Midwest sales were down 2.1% from last year, while the median price increased 3.3% to $340,400.

One number that jumped out at me: Wisconsin at 7%.
That’s the share of mortgages that were FHA as of Q2 2025, according to New York Fed data this puts Wisconsin among the lowest states shown on this map.
Quite a contrast with parts of the South, where FHA makes up 15%–22% of mortgages.
