Shooting The Bay Bridge Run today!

Zoo Part 5 - "Lions, tigers, and bears oh my!" I don't think I'm in Kansas anymore. I had such a great day during my last visit to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute. It was a quiet and many of the animals were active allowing me to get some shots of their good sides. The National Zoo is home to four African lions (males Shaka and Jumbe and females Shera and Amahle), two Amur tigers (a female named Nikita and a male named Metis), one Sumatran tiger, a female named Damai), and four Andean bears (a male named Quito, a female named Brienne, and their two male cubs, named Ian and Sean.)

Zoo Part 3 - Here kitty, kitty, kitty! Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute is home to some big cats. Two clouded leopards, a male name Paitoon and a female named Jilian live together and there are two female cheetahs named Sarah and Carmelita ("Lita") in their enclosure. Zoo Part 2 - I went to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute on Wednesday and spent a lot of time with the Western lowland gorilla exhibit. Zahra is the newest member of the gorilla troop. She was born on May 27, 2023, to mother Calaya and father Baraka. Her name "Zahra", means "beautiful flower" in Swahili. Nothing like a mid-morning nap! I went to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute on Wednesday and spent a long 5 1/2 hours patiently waiting for the animals to oblige me with their good sides. Instead of the usual large photo dump, I will be post bits and pieces each day! Saving my favorites for last! Huntley Meadows Photo Dump #3

It was mine and my buddy Josh's last time to shoot before heading back to Medical School rotations. Went out last night to capture the moon in a cityscape, but apparently it wasn't written in the stars...

Couldn't get any moon shots on Wednesday due to it being overcast. Got a couple shots last night though! Follow, like, and comment!

Had another great time at Huntley Meadows Park with my buddy Josh yesterday! The birds were not very active but there was still plenty of wildlife to capture! As always, feel free to like, share, and comment which ones are your favorites!

Field hockey was a new sport for me to watch and shoot at yesterday. It was a very exciting and hard fought game between Park View High School and Brentsville District High School. In the end, Brentsville took the win with a game winning shot in double overtime by #11 (second to last photo).

Enjoyed my Saturday afternoon at the Montgomery County Fair yesterday! Always fun seeing all of the interesting animals, swine races, log carvers, and having some delicious food!

Images of the Day #8: I went out to Huntley Meadows Park this morning and it did not disappoint! I will most likely be spending a few more mornings over there in the future. Fun fact, I did not realize we had these adorable tree frogs in the DMV.

Image of the Day #7 - I snuck up on this beautiful white-tailed deer this morning at Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve in Loudoun County, Virginia. I jumped three of them an hour earlier and tip-toed back around to get this shot.

Shots at Crooked Run Fermentation during Tuesday night Irish Rose Co****le! Co****le has been an important social and stress relief activity for me throughout medical school. Over the years I have met a lot of great people who I can happily call my friends. Look for a local league near you!

Images of the Day #6 - Black bear cubs at the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located in northern Minnesota and was a prior logging camp where bears used to be shot out of fear as they broke into buildings for food. In the late 70’s, Vince Shute began to feed the bears instead out in the meadows, saving the bears and allowing them to coexist. For more information visit their website at www.americanbear.org
