Extended family portraits make excellent gifts, not just for the Christmas holiday, but also for other occasions like anniversaries, milestone birthdays, Mother's Day or Father's Day. Including generational photos like we did for this lovely family makes them even more special.

I had a great time taking these portraits for this handsome senior! He was such a trooper, humoring me in all of my creative whims. 😄

These new baby family photos are so sweet. Little Avery could not be a prouder big sister. And oh, look at those cheeks! 😍

I have this quote hanging above my baby's crib. It's a good reminder not to take these sweet little moments for granted. Although these newborn days go by quickly, we can preserve them in portraits. That's what I love most about photography -- you are capturing a moment in time so that you'll always be able to revisit it.

We are already a week into October 😱 and the leaves are starting to change. Before you know it, it'll be Halloween, and the colors will be about past their peak for Northern Virginia. "Golden hour" is about an hour after sunrise and before sunset. 🌅 Scheduling your session during "golden hour" will give you this warm, soft, glowy lighting. I'm loving the beautiful glow in these sweet family photos!

I can't help but share some of the beauty my husband and I have seen as we have traveled to some incredible places. This was a wild horse out in the African bush of Namibia near Brandberg Mountain. The sun was setting, and the horse came and stood in just the right spot. It was such a breathtaking moment that I'll never forget.
