There’s just something about a Berner! Oh senior dogs always have my heart. I lost my Aspen in April this year and I haven’t been able to talk about it. Cancer sucks. She had stomach cancer that had metastasized.

When your tummy is upset from chemo and you can’t have coffee anymore, and you’re suddenly craving a gingerbread chai latte… I have an amazing Starbucks coffee copycat recipe we used last year. It tastes better than Starbucks! I figured the ginger is going to soothe my stomach. My daughter always said the chai was good for the tummy. I seriously needed some caffeine I was dying from being dragged out of bed at 5 am with stomach cramps. The homemade gingerbread syrup is way better than anything you’re going to buy and it’s super easy! Now I can work! My daughter and always start celebrating fall in August! I have a sale going on in my shop! Stock up on your Fall dog collar items!

Well the cat’s out of the bag so to speak. I hadn’t formally announced on my business page that I have breast cancer but somehow my other post on my personal Facebook went to my business page? I was diagnosed on January 13th of 2025. I have kept my shop up and operating with a short closure only finally to get my taxes done! I had a lumpectomy at the beginning of March. I am stage 3C. I had what appeared to be a 4.5 cm mass between the 2 masses that showed on imaging. Once removed it was 9 cm! I also had 21 lymph nodes removed 12 of which were positive. So I started chemo on 4/14. I’ve done really well so far on Taxol with minimal side effects. I tend to get tired Weds through Friday. I have pushed out my processing times a little bit to give me some grace but process sooner if I can. After number 12 I will do the 4 dowses of the AC or Red Devil spaced two weeks apart over 8 weeks. This one is harder for a lot of people with more side effects. I watch my labs vigilantly and try to make adjustments to my diet to help compensate. So far so good! We’ve just got this hiccup or mystery now as to the source of the pain and lymph fluid build up. Well we know my drain was pulled too early by an accident it got yanked on in the procedure putting my port in. The fluid doesn’t seem to be draining like it should even though I am doing manual lymph draining massage. Just need some prayers to resolve this.

My almost 11 year old Aspen my Golden Retriever is not well. Shes been sick all day throwing up not eating and barely moving. Coco her younger sibling has been laying by her side now for a bit. I think she realizes something isn’t right. We had a scare last year but she made it. I fear this time might be it. She’s been through so much and I’ve been a wreck today.
