Drums have been tracked for our first full length album. .quinones entered the studio and absolutely ANNIHILATED the parts, setting framework to proceed recording the rest of the instruments. A celebratory Ravendark Stout from was the perfect mark to the end of a successful session.

Another post in the instrument series- The oldest instrument in my stable is my Omega 5 string which is equipped with a Barbera Twin pickup. The pickup delivers a powerful signal and in combination with a solid maple body make this a great instrument for playing with high gain. This was my workhorse for years playing with and and I’ve used it on some live gigs for Slaughtersun to date.

I have received some messages asking about the instruments used instead of guitars for our sound and will be posting about each one. First off is my newest and primary instrument made by which will be used heavily on our upcoming album. It’s hand made to custom specs of wenge wood in the center with two-tone padauk on the edges and was designed for a deep sounding timbre. It’s Starfish pickup system was modified to have an increased signal output and attenuated frequencies around 4khz which is a commonly problematic area in piezo pickups. It was built with attention given to every detail which is evident in the playability and sound.

We are eager to begin recording in just a few weeks and finally get some music with our new(ish) vocalist, Chris Alfano who has been with us for a year now. Looking at his track record of making chaotic music, namely his band East of the Wall, it was evident that he would be a great fit for our sound.
