Bee Happy Consignment

21 HOURS. 💌🐝

That’s how long it’s been since we officially vacated the Susquehanna Valley Mall.

These are already headed to the mailboxes of local moms.

Moms who are using this money to buy the next season and next size for their kids. Moms paying for sports happening right now. Moms putting gas in their cars, groceries on their tables, or getting a head start on Christmas.

Our average consignor made $408 at our very first Susquehanna Valley Mall sale.

Less than a day later, their checks are on the way.

There’s no magical secret to how we do this. I just don’t sleep until it’s done. 😂 I know what it feels like to be a consignor waiting for that check. I know that money matters. The biggest thank-you I can give the people who trust Bee Happy with their things is to get their money into their hands as quickly as possible.

You are not a number here.

We are a small community of moms who come together, support one another and treat each other with kindness. Behind all of that heart are processes and systems that I am incredibly proud of.

The details matter. The systems matter. How we treat people matters MOST.

That’s also why we don’t cram as many consignors as humanly possible into our sales. Biggest has never been the goal. In fact, my grandmother used to say it’s better to have 2 quarters than fifty pennies. 🫶

We protect the quality of our inventory. We want high sell-through rates for our consignors. We want racks that are organized and enjoyable to shop. We want pickup to be simple, with remaining items sorted so our consignors can walk in, be escorted to their pile, grab their things and go.

Doing it this way takes organization. It takes boundaries. It means sometimes having a waitlist instead of simply saying yes to everyone.

It also means caring more about doing it well than simply doing it big.

Consignors… KEEP AN EYE ON THOSE MAILBOXES. 💌🐝 Your checks are coming!

Future consignors? Don’t wait.

We’re not fortune tellers 🔮😂, but after this week, I think it’s pretty safe to predict that Selinsgrove will have a waitlist someday soon too.

At Bee Happy, we measure success by how well we take care of the people who join our hive. 💛🐝

They say you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep. I couldn’t be more proud of mine. 💛🐝

If you came to Bee Happy Consignment today for Discount Day in Selinsgrove today, you probably saw the excitement, the happy dances down the aisles, and the controlled chaos that comes with the final four hours of a sale. 😂

What you might not have known is that the woman who suddenly jumped behind a register when our line got long wasn’t scheduled to volunteer. She isn’t a Consignor. There’s no commission check in the mail this week.

In fact, she owns another children’s consignment sale.
Meet my friend Lindsey. ❤️

Lindsey owns Momma & Me Consignment in the Mansfield PA & Upstate NY area, and sadly, in an industry where people sometimes choose competition, we chose friendship. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1JXQP6DEXX/?mibextid=wwXIfr

She came today simply to shop, support, give a hug and cheer Bee Happy on. Then she saw the checkout line growing and, without hesitation, jumped behind the counter and started helping.

Because that’s who she is.

There are enough baby onesies in this world. There are enough families who need affordable clothing. Enough closets that need cleaned out. Enough communities to serve. Another woman succeeding does not take something away from any of us.

Lindsey has become a sounding board, a trusted friend, someone I can bounce ideas off of, troubleshoot problems with, laugh with, and share a genuine love of thrifting and this crazy consignment sale world with.

This is what it SHOULD look like. ♥️

We intentionally try to work around one another’s dates because we know overlapping sales don’t only affect business owners, they affect the local moms who genuinely want to shop and support as many sales as possible. I will always choose communication, respect, and collaboration whenever possible.

There’s room at the table. There’s room to cheer for each other. There’s room to share ideas. There is absolutely room for more than one successful woman in the same industry.

Today, Lindsey reminded me exactly why I’m so proud of the company I keep.

Thank you for showing up for me when you absolutely didn’t have to. Thank you for being the kind of woman who sees another woman’s line getting long and simply asks, “Where do you need me?”

Businesses may share customers. Calendars may even share dates. None of that requires us to lose our moral compass.

Community over competition. Kindness over everything. Every single time. 💛🐝
