Leadership Centre County
Elevating Leaders. Elevating the Community. Class of 2027 Applications due June 15th. https://leadershipcentrecounty.org/about/apply/
With our new Leadership Centre County ‘ambassadors’ spreading the word about the Class of 2027 applications being open in their recent video, we felt the need to share the story of how they came to be…and their names, of course…Henrietta, Hennifer Lopez , Hen Solo, Leia, Blackjack, Mouse, and Tobey (initially “to be determined”).
Have you ever looked at a local policy or restriction in your community and thought, "I wish someone would change that"?
For Ena Foreman, a proud member of the Leadership Centre County (LCC) Class of 2025, that "someone" turned out to be herself.
For years, Ena dreamed of raising a small, sustainable flock of backyard chickens. But like many citizens, she found herself blocked by complex local zoning laws. Local government felt intimidating and tough to navigate—until she experienced Government Day with LCC.
By interacting directly with local officials and studying civic frameworks, Ena realized that community leadership isn't just about big titles. It is about understanding the levers of local government and having the confidence to be part of the mechanics and impact.
Empowered by her LCC experience and new connections, Ena didn't just wait for change.
She built it.
With the help and support of LCC alum she met during government day, specifically Keri Kenepp and Cindy Kunes:
-She researched sustainable poultry ordinances.
-She drafted a proposal addressing community concerns.
-She walked into her local Planning and Zoning meeting and confidently championed her cause during public comment.
Thanks to the knowledge and leadership skills gained through LCC, Ena transformed from a passive resident into an active, informed advocate shaping her community's future, and now, she is an engaged Alumni member of the LCC Government Day Planning Committee.
Congratulations, Ena, on your chickens, and on translating leadership education into direct civic action.
We are proud of you and also grateful for your continued support of Leadership Centre County!
Enjoy the video!

In just one week, the Class of 2026 will graduate from Leadership Centre County.
It has been 10 months of learning, connecting, and growing together since the first "hello" at Orientation last September.
To say I am proud of each class member, and this group as a whole, is an understatement.
There were days with uncontrollable laughter, and there were days with tears, sharing personal stories and challenges.
There were the 'best days of the year,' and there were the 'maybe we need another break in there' kind of days.
There were the questions 'Are we really doing that?' as we walked high above the recycling center sorter, and then there were the 'I grew up here and didn't even know that' comments during many of the programs, especially History Day.
Then, scattered throughout the year, there were the 'A-ha' moments when it clicked, and they began to realize WHY they were part of this class; part of this community; part of this group called the Best Class Ever!
We hope you will join us in celebrating the Class of 2026 next Wednesday, June 10th. More info on Graduation in the first comment.

One of the most powerful outcomes of Leadership Centre County isn't found in a textbook - it's found in the lifelong support network of leaders created each year.
Students don't just learn about Centre County; they build deep bonds with a diverse group of peers, and these connections often turn into collaborations that solve real-world problems in our community.
These are not just 10-month friendships—they are professional and personal networks that strengthen Centre County for decades.
Help us keep these connections growing during
and by nominating the leaders of tomorrow. Applications for the Class of 2027 are open and due May 30th!
