These precious ladies came by today reminiscing about the party cups they used to get at Occasions while in college so much so that they bought some of the cups and paint pens to go back to their cottages and paint on them tonight!

RETIRING AND CLOSING AFTER 20 YEARS as owners of Occasions

Occasions has been one of the anchor businesses in downtown Starkville since we bought the business in 2004. Being a part of this beautiful town has been a blessing and an honor to serve not only our locals but our many out of town customers. We will miss all of you greatly! Being a part of the gift industry has truly been a dream of ours and working together as a mother and daughter team for 20 years has exceeded our expectations!

The decision to retire was not made without a lot of prayers, thoughts and (maybe a few) tears but with Mandee making a career change over a year ago (who was the creative heart and soul of our business), it became abundantly clear that I, too, am ready for the next chapter of my life … RETIREMENT!

A huge thank you to the Starkville Partnership, our city officials and most of all … our local retail businesses and our customers who have made this journey so meaningful and fun!!!

We will start our sales on inventory, furniture and fixtures on Friday as we go through the process of closing our shop!
