The Stanton Tourism and Convention Commission is presenting a great night of music for the debut of Front Porch Live here at the Drive-In Diner in Stanton, kicking off at 5:00 PM with Jaylan Shelton, followed by Greg Bates at 6:00 and then The Perfect Strangers closing things out at 7:30!

Come out and support local music! You'll be glad you did.

This card was found near the playground at the Stanton City Park, and turned in to us here at the PCDC. We've blurred everything but the name, but we're asking your help in getting home to its rightful owner. It's secure in the jailer's safe right now, so any help is appreciated on its journey home.

On a gray and gloomy Tuesday morning, four new individuals passed all of the required work in learning basic HVAC and welding skills! We're proud of every single resident of this facility who makes the type of commitment of time and effort into their own rehabilitation, and we hope you'll join us in congratulating them all on a job well done!

Big(foot) thanks to the folks at the Bigfoot Festival for feeding our own team of Sasquatches over here at the PCDC. We'll make sure that the burgers and dogs go to a good home!

We sure hope Bigfoot doesn’t get arrested in Stanton this weekend. If anyone sees him acting foolish, please give him a ride to another county.

Yesterday we jumped at the chance to help Coach Spencer out in getting the tarp rolled up at the baseball field, protecting the grass and keeping the infield in shape. Thanks to David Traugott who helped not only get our crew there and back, but also jumped in to help wrestle the beast. These guys are getting more and more invested in our community every day, and while not every win shows up on the scoreboard, this is one we can all benefit from. Go Pirates!

We've been out at the reservoir clearing some weeds, picking up trash and getting ready for warm weather to finally stick around for a while. Did you know that the Kentucky Division of Fish & Wildlife rates the Beechfork Reservoir as one of Kentucky's hidden gems for anglers?

Regional Fisheries Biologist Tom Timmerman and staff recently sampled the lake and found:

✅ Good and excellent catch rates for Largemouth Bass over 15" and 20"

✅ Strong numbers of quality-size Bluegill and Redear Sunfish

So get out there this summer and enjoy what Powell County has to offer, and we'll try to keep the weeds managed. As for the trash, let's all be a little more responsible and respectful of this beautiful place we're blessed to live in, and make the effort not to leave any behind in the first place.
