Daytime closures set for Slade Hill on KY 15 in Powell County June 5-6


JACKSON, Ky. – Drivers who use KY 15 (Campton Road/Slade Hill) in Powell County should plan to use an alternate route during daytime hours on Friday and Saturday, June 5-6.

The road will be closed between milepoints 0.5 (the intersection with Baker Ridge Road near the Wolfe County line) and 3.3 (the intersection with KY 11 at Slade) for an event sponsored by Backroads of Appalachia, which has secured a permit for the activity.

The road will be closed to all traffic between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days.

No signed detour will be posted, but drivers can use the Mountain Parkway between Exit 33 (Slade/Beattyville) and Exit 40 (Pine Ridge/Beattyville) as an alternate route while KY 15 is closed. Portable electronic message boards will be placed to notify drivers of the closure.

Approximately 525 vehicles use this section of KY 15 each day.

KY 613 in Powell County to be closed beginning Monday, May 11
Project expected to take approximately three months; signed detour posted
JACKSON, Ky. – Drivers who use KY 613 (Little North Fork Road) near Bowen in Powell County will need to find an alternate route beginning Monday, May 11. The road will be closed between KY 11/KY 15 and the Red River bridge for up to three months for correction of flooding issues along the low-lying section of highway between milepoints 0.0 and 0.363.

A signed detour involving KY 11/KY 15, KY 1184, KY 615 and KY 599 through Rosslyn will be posted.

This segment of KY 613 is prone to flooding. This project will raise the height of the roadbed to help alleviate flooding issues which frequently cause the road to be closed. The work is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 1.

Fewer than 425 vehicles use this section of KY 613 each day.

Railroad St in Stanton is closed for an auto accident. It may be closed for a few hours while crews repair a downed pole. Please avoid the area.

This picture represents a close approximate zone coverage for Powell County’s weather warning siren system. This was made as a guidance reference based upon manufacturer specifications of an approximate 1 mile radius for the type of sirens Powell County has. This does not mean you won’t hear them outside of these zones as other variables do take into effect for sound travel, etc. This is mainly just a reference guide for knowledge purposes.

Keep in mind back in 2001, these sirens were installed based on population data. Powell County Emergency Management is using this data from mapping to look into more coverage options for areas in the county that may be outside of the coverage area due to growth and expansion.
